Description

Grand Makadi - Couples and Families Only is a five-star resort established in 2004, offering 302 rooms across two main and three interconnected buildings. It is designed for those seeking a calm holiday by the Red Sea, with a private sandy beach stretching 1000 meters that includes free sunbeds, umbrellas, and beach towels. The shallow coral reef near the shore makes it a prime spot for snorkeling directly from the beach or the jetty. The hotel grounds are spacious and lushly green, featuring six restaurants, four bars, and multiple pools including a children’s pool and playground. Families will find dedicated facilities such as a mini-club for children aged 5 to 12 and baby cots available on request. While rooms are clean and spacious, many guests have noted that they could use modernization. On-site amenities include paid fitness and wellness options like a gym, sauna, and massage, as well as free parking and a private beach area.

Location

Grand Makadi is located in Makadi Bay, just 23 kilometers from Hurghada International Airport and 37 kilometers from Hurghada city center. The hotel sits directly on the Red Sea coast in the Makadi Bay Safaga Road area. Nearby dining options include Island Pool Restaurant, Tarboush Lebanese restaurant, and Mermaid Restaurant, all within 176 meters. The hotel’s private sandy beach is only 60 meters from the accommodation, allowing easy access to water activities like snorkeling on the adjacent coral reef. This location offers a quiet environment away from the city bustle while remaining accessible for excursions and local attractions.

The bad first......Red Sea rep left us to go to reception ourselves, no welcome drink. Reception staff very un welcoming. Twice during our holiday we asked them for info and directions.....no help at all! When they wanted coins changing for notes they were changed men!! Now the good....fabulous holiday. Grand Makadi has a wonderful pool area. It is huge, new and perfect. Lots of sunbeds and helpful staff. Beach is lovely and snorkelling from jetty amazing. Room clean and big....needs updating but we were happy and comfortable. Food is lovely. 4 restaurants...all delicious. Nice buffet with wonderful choice. Service everywhere was friendly and helpful.....everyone is so so nice. Thank you all at Grand Makadi for our Happy Holiday.

I had a wonderful stay at Grand Makadi and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. The hotel is beautifully located right by the Red Sea, with a stunning private beach and crystal-clear water — perfect for relaxing and snorkeling.

The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always smiling. From the reception team to the restaurant staff and housekeeping, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with lovely views. Housekeeping maintained everything at a very high standard every day.

The food was delicious and varied, with plenty of options for everyone. I especially appreciated the themed dinners and the fresh, local flavors. The restaurants and bars offered a great atmosphere, particularly in the evening.

The pool area was well-maintained, with plenty of sunbeds and a calm, relaxing vibe. It’s a perfect place both for couples and for anyone looking to unwind in beautiful surroundings.

Overall, Grand Makadi offers excellent value for money, fantastic service, and a peaceful holiday experience. I would definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Egypt. 🌊☀️

Grand Makadi Hotel, Hurghada April 2026 A really enjoyable stay overall, with some standout highlights, but a few areas that let it down. The good: The reef snorkeling is absolutely incredible, genuinely world class and right on your doorstep. If you like snorkeling, this alone might justify staying here. The hotel has a laid-back feel with lots of pools and space, so it never feels too crowded. The beach bar was a highlight, a bit livelier than the lobby but still relaxed. The pool staff and lifeguards were excellent throughout, friendly, helpful and always around when needed. Food is hit and miss overall, but the à la carte restaurants (Lebanese, Mexican and Italian) are much better than the buffet and you can book them as often as you like. Mahmood in the lobby bar deserves a mention, consistently friendly and attentive. The not so good: The smoking is hard to ignore, especially in the evenings. It feels like stepping back in time to the UK 30 years ago. Rooms are dated and housekeeping was unreliable. We had to keep asking for basics like toilet roll and water. We also had to move rooms due to noise from a neighbouring hotel, so definitely request a quiet room unless you’re happy with late evening noise. Service really depends on tipping. Some staff are great, others come across as uninterested. You’ll also be regularly interrupted by spa sellers and excursion reps, even when trying to relax by the pool, which quickly gets irritating. Reception was the biggest letdown. We found the staff consistently unhelpful and at times rude, which isn’t what you expect from front of house. Small issues were handled poorly and without much courtesy. The buffet is average and leans more towards local and European tastes. Drinks are basic, served in small glasses or plastic cups, and the use of plastic crockery doesn’t help the overall feel. Fresh juice costs extra. Overall: Hurghada is a great destination, and this hotel has real potential thanks to the reef and spacious layout. But the rooms need updating and service, especially at reception, needs improvement. It looks like a 4-star from the outside, but overall feels closer to a good 3-star. Would we return? To Hurghada, yes. To this hotel, sadly not.

We had a really wonderful stay at this hotel and I can honestly say it exceeded all my expectations. The staff were friendly and always ready to help with anything we needed, which made us feel really welcome throughout our stay. The hotel is stunning especially in the evenings, when all the lights are on. The beach is gorgeous and very well kept, with the most incredible blue water. You can snorkel by amazing coral reef, which is near the beach. The food was delicious, with plenty of great options to enjoy every day. For dinner you can choose between the main restaurant Lagoon and four a ́ la Carte restaurants. You can choose from Italian, Mexican, Oriental and Asian restaurants. The choice of dishes in the a ́la carte restaurants was very good, the food delicious and of good quality. They updated our junior suite to a room that had pool access for the terrace, which was very nice. Room was very spacious and clean, with nice bathroom. Only minus was noise from nearby maintenance area, it´s loud banging door and shouting staff especially early in the mornings. So you can´t sleep late. We truly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back!

My husband and I arrived in the dark and our first impressions were, wow, what a beautiful resort. The whole place was twinkling like a fairyland. At check-in, as we are both senior citizens, we requested a ground floor room, twin beds and, more importantly, a walk-in shower. We were advised to go for dinner, pointed in the general direction, (down the steps and to the left1) eventually found the Lagoon Restaurant. If you knew how big this resort is, down the steps and to the left was not particularly helpful, bearing in mind it was dark. We returned to reception, given the key to our allocated room which turned out to be on the second floor, a kingsize bed and a bath! Totally unacceptable. The following morning, we returned to reception and were taken to another room. Not as nice but at least it had a walk-in shower, not exactly twin beds but there was a single bed which , sadly, I can only describe as an affront to single beds! It was more like a camp bed, the mattress was bigger than the base and the headboard was hidden under a folded up sheet which, when uncovered, had four rusty wheels screwed into the back of it. The quality of the bedding was poor and no mattress cover. Needless to say, we moved to our third room, a Junior Suite with pool and sea views. Just as well the hotel was not full. As previously mentioned in other reviews, although the room was large and spotlessly clean, it was tired and terribly dated. There are swimming pools everywhere but very few guests braved the icy waters. We dined at all the restaurants and our favourite was the Asian with a great choice of dishes on the a-la-carte menu. The Lagoon buffet restaurant offered a tremendous choice of dishes, catering for every palate but as is the 'norm' for buffet restaurants, the 'hot' dishes were generally 'not that hot'. One of our favourite places was the Beach Bar which we frequented every day. The food there we found to be very good. Despite the fact that the Grand Makadi was 'sister' to three other hotels, woe betide you if you sat on another hotels' sunbed, either around the pools or on the beach. Despite the fact that there are literlly thousands of sunbeds on the beach, the majority of them unoccupied, we were told quite aggressively that the sunbeds we were lying on were 'Palace' sunbeds and told to move. There is nothing on the beach to indicate where each hotel's sunbeds start and finish. We asked where the Grand sunbeds were and were told 'over there'. Not helpful. The majority of staff were friendly and helpful but sadly, some were quite abrupt. Not our worst holiday but unfortunately not our best. Sad to say, we wouldn't go back.

We had such a wonderful experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with anything we needed, which made us feel really welcome throughout our stay. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful architecture and impeccable cleanliness everywhere. The beach is gorgeous and very well kept, and right next to the hotel there’s a wild, natural beach that’s perfect for relaxing walks, with the most dreamy blue water. The food was delicious, with plenty of great options to enjoy every day. Our room was lovely, with a large balcony and a very comfortable bed — perfect for resting after a day in the sun. We also really enjoyed the evening shows, each night with a different theme and a great atmosphere. We truly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back!

Really nice hotel with recent refurbishment.

A nice location with good facilities. Let down by the staff. We've been to this collection of hotels over the years and the staff have always been very egotistical and disinterested, but as the facilities are good we have returned.

This year it seems that the staff will only perform if they receive a cash tip after the first interaction, which is not ideal for an all-inclusive cashless hotel experience.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel and I can honestly say it exceeded all my expectations. The beach was beautiful – clean, well-maintained, and very relaxing. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the sun and the sea. Everything was organized perfectly, and you could really see that the hotel takes great care of the beach area. The pool area was just as impressive. It was spotless, spacious, and ideal for both relaxing and having fun. There were always enough sunbeds, and the atmosphere was peaceful and enjoyable throughout the day. I would especially like to praise the gentleman at the reception named Sherif. He was exceptionally professional, friendly, and helpful. He went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. His kindness, patience, and positive attitude truly made a difference and left a lasting impression on us. Greetings from Croatia 🇭🇷🇪🇬♥️

Our stay at this hotel was excellent overall. The entertainment team was absolutely fantastic and very friendly, keeping the atmosphere fun at all times. The bar staff and hotel employees were very welcoming, and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The room was good, although it could benefit from some updating and fresh paint. The hotel gardens are beautiful and very well maintained, and the gentleman responsible for the sunbeds was extremely helpful and accommodating. We would especially like to mention Uncle Book (Masoud), the best service manager in the hotel. He was professional, friendly, and always made sure we were comfortable. We would also like to praise the outstanding barman, Mazhar, who provided excellent service and took great care of us throughout the entire week. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return again.
