A lovely hotel in a great central location
The best hotel if you're going to Reykjavik. It was a wonderful experience. A quiet, comfortable, and clean place with a decent breakfast for the price
Perfect location for shopping, walking, and sightseeing in the city center - many famous sights, restaurants and shops are within very easy walking distance
Last but not least, we want to highlight Leonardo's kindness; he helped us with everything we needed, always with a wonderful portuguese smile ;)
Thank you!
Currently here with my daughter and she'd like to move in. We are in the west building facing the church. The location is great and there's a free parking lot across the road
Everything about this hotel in Reykjavík was perfect. The location is outstanding, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The breakfast was delicious with a great selection, and a perfect start to the day
Reykjavik, Sidumula 19, Haaleiti, 108 Reykyavik, Stolichnaya oblast, Islandiya (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Points of note- The hotel is approximately 2 miles from the centre of Reykjavik. So prepare to walk, hire a car or make use of taxis etc. We were told the hotel has no reception desk-and we never did see or find one
Clean and nice, but no change of towels.
No staff present. Digital communications only.
Not close to city centre, but lots of restaurants nearby. Overall a pleasent stay.
Despite the hotel’s somewhat unpreposessing location in the middle of what appears to be an industrial estate, we did enjoy our stay in room 501 here
The hotel is best for light travellers as there is no available elevator. The location is perfect and not very populated busy area
Not a bad location just make shaw you get the bus save some money 🤣
Very easy to do the self check-in. I just wish there was an elevator but it wasn't too bad bringing my bag up the stairs. Very nice room.

The hotel has a good location in the city center. The front desk service was excellent; a Pakistani man there even gave us a map showing us places to visit. The room was very nice and spacious, but the kettle leaked.
The location is great. The front desk staff were very friendly and recommended nearby restaurants. The breakfast was not luxurious, but very delicious. We were able to check in earlier than expected.
Fantastic hotel in a great location, fantastically placed for the bus stops, the shopping in town or the nearby supermarket
It maybe not the fanciest of hotels or the biggest, but the staff, location and cleanliness make this hotel fantastic. Front desk,Rushka and Farooq (who asked me to say he was the handsome guy) are first class
Well located. Walls are thin and could be noisy at night.
Be aware that the rooms are not very soundproofed and that you may hear noise from the bar located across the street late at night especially on weekends
The location was great! All the bus stops are nearby, and there's a supermarket close by too. Highly recommend it.
Right in a main shopping street, within walking distance (15 minutes) of the main BSI Bus Terminal, 30 minutes-ish from the Perlan, 5 minutes to the cathedral, and shops and food places all around
The hotel is located in the center heart, just next to the rainbow road and surrounded by bars and restaurants
Friendly staff. Very small rooms. Simple breakfast. Amazing Central location in thr middle of everything. Next to many bus stops for tour pickups.
All the staff is so welcoming and helpful.
The room is small, but cleaning is perfect.
Breakfast is simple, but good.
I slept good, but shower pressure is not to good.
I will recommend this hotel 🙂
The coffee cups could do with being bigger, although I noticed coffees in Iceland are smaller than the UK!
The only negative was that there is a bar just round the corner, which was very lively, with a party in full flow through till the early hours of the morning
Reykjavik, Ranargata 4a, 101 Reykyavik, Stolichnaya oblast, Islandiya (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Good location, average facilities, small and exquisite, average ventilation
This is a good boutique hotel with rooms that give a quality feel. Excellent shower and balcony that added to my stay after enjoying my adventures in Iceland, I knew I would come back to a warm and clean room
2-night stay
The location is great and the downstairs bar is excellent. The breakfast is good but a bit hit and miss with some items
The Breakfast was a great way to start your day. The only tiny issue was a loud door closing in the corridor due to a heavy spring closure
Good location for very reasonable prices. Will be ideal for anyone who is not particularly interested in staying at hotel for too long, who d be spending majority of the time out of the hotel
Excellent hotel, great views, and attentive service.

They had originally placed us in a very small room but was able to change us to a different room after request. Overall, the lack of clear communication regarding check-in and breakfast made the experience frustrating
Around 7:40 am, we finally saw a staff member who informed us that breakfast was served at a different location. We had to rush, as our tour started at 8:30 am
Morgenmaden var to go. Køkkenet var ikke fuldt udstyret men fint. Dejligt med cookies og kaffe gratis.
During our second check in, we still had not received check in information and there was nobody there to assist us so it was a hassle to get our luggage that we had stored as well as get the key to our room
The room was comfortable, but the toilet was not well connected to the wall so everytime you sat down on it, the whole thing would move and would make a loud clanking sound once you got off
We were not given a breakfast voucher, and the next morning there was no breakfast set up in the breakfast room. We went up and down several times trying to figure out what was happening

The location is great too, really close to a supermarket and a cute bakery. I would definitely stay again
The hotel is managed by a couple and is located few kms away from Reykjavik downtown but location is perfect when you are travelling Golden Circle and south coast. Would really recommend this amazing place
Nothing to do in the area. Good for a one night stop-over. No amenities. No cofee until about 9:00. Nice staff. Ony three TV channels. (they will say there are more than 3 but they duplicate)
Enjoyed my stay here, it was a good value functional hotel, spotless and warm, and our room was serviced daily. Parking outside made it a good base to explore the golden circle, Vík, etc
Late check-in was possible, although we had a bit of trouble at first getting the code as they did not send it until we called. In the end they were very friendly and helpful
The managers are very helpful and friendly. There's coffee in the morning but no breakfast, but the manager recommended a nice bakery nearby with a discount for residents

The breakfast (included) was delicious and filling. Great location if you rent a car and plenty of free parking
I stayed in this hotel for just one night. arrived in before the check in time but the staff still welcomed me. She checked my room to see it’s been cleaned so I could have my room earlier
We had a problem with the code door when we arrived and someone was quick to respond and help! It turns out we didn’t check our email the day of and they upgraded our room for free
Too bad I didn’t get to try their breakfast. But I’ll definitely book this hotel for my next visit in Reykjavik. Pardon me for my personal belongings in the photos
We were with friends for two nights, wonderful hotel, delicious breakfast, friendly and helpful hostess of the hotel. the rooms are very clean and smell nice
There is a cozy veranda and the opportunity to drink tea/coffee/cocoa with cookies at any time in the hotel restaurant. I definitely recommend the hotel, on my next trip to Iceland I will also stay here
Reykjavik, Bárugata 11, Vesturbaer (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
After a mess at the international airport which involved a power outage, freak storm, and hours upon hours of lines, culminating in false hotel vouchers from the airline (because the original hotels never received the voucher bookings because there was no power), we made our way to Hotel Hilda and they accepted us in quickly and we're understanding of our situation
They are THE BEST!
A wonderful little boutique place that is only blocks from downtown, surrounded by local residents, and a super nice and helpful staff. I would definitely stay here again!
This hotel literally saved me a few others from a long day of exhaustion. They welcomed us in and we're so very nice and comforting
We were very happy with this accomodation! The day we left, we had to leave at 3 a. and were therefore to early to get breakfast
Knowing this, the very nice and helpful lady of the hotel made us some sandwiches, which were waiting for us on the counter
My only complaint is that they put us to the dining room/Breakfast room and it was VERY noisy in the morning when we were trying to sleep. Beyond that it was very nice and the staff were very accommodating
Reykjavik, Laugavegur 140, Hlidar (in the centre) 🧭 Map
A gem in the heart of Reykjavik. Steps from the Hlemmur bus terminal and on the main Street close to restaurants, shops and sights. Large comfortable spotlessly clean rooms. Quiet despite the convenient location
We had a lovely 3 night stay at Phoenix Hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean, the beds were really comfortable. We had a small kettle to make tea and coffee which was good
The owners are always happy to share their insights on where to go or to give you directions to where you need to get. The breakfast is plenty to take you a long way through the day. Definitely recommend staying there
Very friendly and helpful staff. A large, freshly made delicious breakfast will keep you going until dinner. A bit quirky in that you have to ring the doorbell to get in. But overall a delightful experience
Every night the beds were turned down and a chocolate placed in the pillows which was a really nice touch. The 2 managers were lovely, they couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly
The hotel is located very centrally in Reykjavik allowing you to reach every location on foot. The rooms are very clean and the service is excellent
Reykjavik, Skolavordustigur 42 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Close to the cathedral and the bus station, the environment is quiet, the rooms are clean, there are many places to eat around, there are plenty of people, and the house prices are cost-effective. It is recommended
Great location right near Hallgrimskirkja Church, easy walking distance to everything. I stayed the night before my ringroad tour and the night after and had a room on 3rd floor both times
Ideal for a quick stop before traveling on. Ideal location right next to Hallgrimskirkja church. Easy walk or bus to down town, where loads of restraints
Communication from hotel was good, I arrived late and they sent me self check in details that were easy to follow
Kitchenette with sink and microwave? Breakfast not available until after 09:00 in the Vietnam restaurant which also acts as the reception! Good location though. Bed & bathroom clean, but with a couple of cockroaches
You can see the church as soon as you step out. It is very close to the airport bus and the bus for group tours to pick up 🚌stop8 (just to the left of the church). The boss is a Vietnamese restaurant owner
Reykjavik, Vogasel 1, Breidholt, 109 Reykyavik, Stolichnaya oblast, Islandiya (5 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Good location, I will choose again this property
Curious stay, because check-in simply happened by phone for us to communicate that we’d arrived, to get the code to enter, and to know what our room number was
It’s right next to a big park and a school, very quiet and cute, and there are two huge and very soft cats in the yard
The location is great if you have a car, but way out from the center (40-50 minutes by bus), so beware
We were unsure of which room we were in since we made the reservation three months in advance, but found the original confirmation email which sorted it all out
Charming room in a charming house with clean sheets and simple living setup in a shared group house space
Reykjavik, Soleyjargata 31, Midborg, 101 Reykyavik, Stolichnaya oblast, Islandiya (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Good and easy communication, clean rooms, free coffee and tea in kitchen area, and parking on street
Pros: Only a 15-minute walk from Reykjavik, and free parking is available outside the accommodation. Cons: Located on the basement floor, the accommodation had a strong damp smell
My room was relatively clean and warm for January, I didn't have much noise despite the location so that was good
Perfect place if you need to get the bus to Keflavik airport early in the morning. 15-20min walk to city center, depending on pace and where you're going. Super easy self check-in and check-out
The toilet had no heating, making showering extremely cold
I arrived in the evening and did not see any person related to property. Booked the room just for one night. My room had en suite bathroom and was a bit on the basement with windows a bit above ground level
Brilliant location in Reykjavik. The room was very comfortable with a large and warm bed. Make sure you get to breakfast early, as they were running out of food at 9am. I would definitely stay here again
Hotel was very close to everything in a great location. Hotel provided an excellent breakfast that was suitable to all tastes
Stayed for 3 nights with a friend. Hotel location really good, just in the centre of the city. Room nice and warm with private bathroom ( I know you can book also rooms with sharing bathroom)
Rooms were a little dated , however they provided everything we needed, will definitely stay here again
Location is also great— near bus stops for tours and in walking distance of many shops and restaurants
For all the comments about the sulfur smell from the hot water, you’re staying on a nation built from volcanoes whose aquifers are down in that geologic soil. You travel to experience something different

I didn't have high hopes for this hotel, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise!
The location is fantastic; the church is right outside the door, and I was so excited to be staying so close to it when I first arrived
Great location, very clean hotel, and you can even see the cathedral from your room. It's within walking distance to Rainbow Street, the Phallus Museum, the Concert Hall, and Little Elephant Supermarket
Convenient location with free parking. It's a short walk to the city center and great for chasing the Northern Lights by the sea. Breakfast was just okay. The hygiene was good.
The location is amazing, the room windows looked directly at the Hallgrímskirkja church! The room is small but comfortable, the bathroom is clean. The staff is very friendly.
Highly recommended, a perfect score! The location is right next to the cathedral, and bus stop 8 is just a 3-minute walk away, making it ideal for day trips
There are no toiletries provided at all, which was a real letdown. But Rainbow Street is just two blocks away, so the location is really good
Wonderful apartment, very comfortable and cozy, plenty of space for 2 people. The location is excellent with many shops and restaurants just steps away
Wonderful experience! Excellent location and warm hospitality from the host. Should I visit Iceland again, I would love to stay at 46heima!
Great location with a bonus grocery across the street walking distance to several great cafes, restaurants and pastry shops
Nice home in a centralized location for bus stops and restaurants. Close to most city sightseeing hot spots
The location was great with tons of shops and restaurants a short distance away
We took a food tour that met at the concert hall which was about a 15 minute walk. The famous church is maybe a 5 minute walk. If you stay here you will utilize bus stop 9 for all of your tour pick ups/drop offs
Good location for driving into the city, free parking, and clean. We appreciated having a small kitchen to prepare our own food, with dishes and cutlery provided
Access to laundry was a nice convenience. Self-check in was simple. Only minor inconvenience was the mini fridge didn't have a freezer section.
There are just a few things which should be maintained and fixed. I stayed there 7 days, there was no cleaning at all and you have to organize new towels and bedsheets by yourself by finding the housemaid in the building
Regarding the balcony I probably draw the short straw at the 2nd floor as you can see in the pictures (Superior Appartment). But all in all it's OK and I would probably stay there again
Check in was smooth but it was hard to get sheets and pillowcases for the sofa bed (they were not in our room upon arrival and we had to go find them ourselves on another floor)
I chose this property for the washer dryer. There’s only one set for the whole floor and the dryer never did dry the clothes. I had to hang my clothes all over the apartment

Jack at the front is very nice. The room is simple, but very nice people and yes, it was clean. Great price,Great location, and we will share to come back.
Mr. Canada 🇨🇦
It’s a very good location with decent price. The postcards are the cheapest I can find in the city. You’ll have access to nice food place from there.
Very convenient location just opposite bus stop no.9.
As location is in City, parking is an issue and extra cost.
Shared showers were a mixture of standards. Kitchen was not regularly cleaned.
Very rudimentary room and facility. It is like a hostel with private rooms. Small room with sink and shared bathroom and shower. Good location but facilities could use some updating.
It was a good experience in Iceland however there’s very less amenities which is only beds toilet in the room and even there’s no microwave in the hotel.

Spacious with a lovely balcony. Handy location - shops etc, public transport. Tea and coffee (fancy machine) topped up daily. Walking distance to 3 supermarkets. Mini bar stocked with all sorts!
Flat walking
Spacious and clean room. Very comfortable bed, great kitchen. Convenient location. Staff were professional and friendly. Very happy with our stay. Recommend highly. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
Apartment was great, as was the location. Only two minor adjustments I would make personally - put felt pads on all the furniture, this will reduce noise for the apartment below
The staff were very friendly and helpful: the room was spotless and cleaned each day. The hotel is the perfect location for exploring Reykjavík!
Good, well equipped facility in an excellent location. Only downside is location works against you at weekends late at night with street noise (unless you're one of them of course), so perhaps not best for young families
Lift too!
Towels changed daily. Reception staff all friendly, helpful and obliging. My next place does not measure up at all
On our first night we had issues with the shower water not draining, we emailed and they had it fixed within hours. Although this wasn't communicated to us which was disappointing
A really great place to stay whilst staying in Iceland! The staff members were super helpful and attentive, even Fram the dog and JellyBelly the cat! The room was perfect for two of us, the beds were super comfy and room had everything we needed for our 5 nights away! Thank you for a great stay!🌌
We bumped into the cleaner who told us that it had been fixed. Communication could have been better, but otherwise really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for the hospitality
Very nice guesthouse situated in a quiet area, yet close to central city. Owners contacted us before arrival to instruct about access to our room. When leaving, my daughter forgot her gloves and hat in the room
We enjoyed your stay at Guesthouse Galtafell. The parking available is free street parking, we went in late February 2026 and had no issue with finding a park close by. Good heating and a large bathroom
The hosts are also very kindhearted and let us keep our luggage there post check out while we went on a day trip. Thorey and her husband go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and special
