Loved the food here. Had the chicken and rice with truffle sauce as it was in season. Perfect. My favourite food in Florence.

Was recommended by a local hotelier and appeared all nice at the beginning. However, they delivered 2 wrong dishes. We were tired and late in pointing out. We did not ask for any concessions but Restaurant was totally unapologetic about the errors. Dissatisfaction topped with rude behavior left a bitter taste of Florence. During day, majority of places here offer frozen pizza after reheating. We were looking forward to a nice dinner but Vecchio Mercato was a disappointment.

Trattoria Mario surpassed all expectations, and I had high ones based on reviews. It is a small, busy, bustling eatery with cheap prices but HIGH quality food. The dishes are simple but very tasty. Ordered the Tortellini a la Ragu and the Beef Stew. The pasta was one of the best I've ever tried. The Beef Stew was plentiful and the wine sauce was excellent. It closes at 3:30PM so be there for lunch. Be ready to share tables with other clients.

Highly recommended.

So far we had four pastas here. All good. Steak is also highly recommend. They charge €2.5 per person seating for water and breads.

Constantly crowded with locals and tourists alike, and rightfully so. Famous for just about every local specialty Florence has to offer. Come early or expect a wait.

The bistecca fiorentina was great. Do not expect a posh restaurant, it is simple and looks authentic.
Around 45 euros for a bisteca, a salad and half litter of house wine (2 people).

Trattoria da Mario was one of my favorite dining experiences while visiting Florence. I had heard it might be difficult to get a seat at times, so we went about an hour before they closed for the day.

There isn't much in the way of a menu, so you have to look at the walls for your options. The servers are helpfule and can make suggestions. We had the pork medallions and pasta ragu. The food was so tasty, we decided we had to come back the next day for more! That's when we had the Florentine steak: a fantastically bloody chunk of beef that was incredible.

When visiting Florence, be sure to make some time to check out Trattoria da Mario!

Hands down best steak I've ever had. Make sure you order the florentine steak. Don't be put off by the size of the steak (800gm or 1kg steak between 2) or the fact that it's served rare because this is exactly how you would want to eat it. I'm amazed at that fact that it comes out warm and crispy yet still tender and moist (without the runny blood that most rare steaks have). My husband and I are already planning to come back for another meal. Go on a weekday if you don't want to wait too long. We arrived at 1:30pm and was seated by 1:45pm.

Our hotel was nearby and we were very lucky to get in without much wait. Since we had baby and stroller, we were seated downstairs. T bone steak was best ever in my life and pasta beef rigatoni was very good. Price was so low. Beer and wine were both very good too.

Great local experience, but hip. Unique food choices, great atmosphere. Very busy. Reasonably priced, great wine selection. Combo of old meets new. Attentive waiters and owners. One of the best meals we have had in Italy in 3 weeks.

Great restaurant! Service and food were excellent and with a good price. Couvert and a white wine for entrance for free (at least for us in the dinner). Best place in 4 days of Firenze
