Hotel Forza Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi in Kyoto

Location is like a 10-15min walk from station. There are STAIRS, no lift or elevator so it’s a pain if have a large and heavy suitcase! When I arrived at the lobby, I actually wasn’t sure whether it was the reception because it looked more like a counter at a large restaurant. The reception staff didn’t really dress like a reception staff. She was just wearing a very casual looking striped top like this a random top from Uniqlo. Another staff was wearing a suit jacket over the striped tshirt which looked more proper. When I approached the reception staff, there’s no smile, actually she did not smile throughout the time I talked to her. And when I said I wanted to check-in, she said something like u can just use those machines over there to check-in yourself…I was charged accommodation tax for 2 ppl instead of 1 person, I asked why, she said she can refund the 400yen, yet if it’s just me staying at the room the room rate is actually more expensive…..err…the cleanliness is quite disappointing, looking at the pyjamas the provided, would anyone want to wear that when it looks so worn out with so much pilling? There was dust on walls near ceiling, I imagine ppl who have nose allergies eg allergic to dust with have a hard time sleeping in the room….i don’t think i will want to stay at this hotel again.
