An amazing place to stay at in Kyoto! Walking distance from the Arishayama Train Station, walking distance to the nearby village, great breakfast downstairs in the morning, and great staff to ensure you’re taken care of. They allowed us to store our bags at 10am since check-in was at 4pm. They put our bags in our room for us when we came back to check in.

The room was big, clean, and we will be back for sure!

Very clean and comfortable! There are four beds that can sleep five people, but unfortunately I was the only one. Breakfast was charged separately, so I wouldn't recommend it! It's very convenient, about a 10-minute walk to Arashiyama.

Stayed at The GrandWest Arashiyama and had a pleasant experience. The room is spacious and looks exactly like the photos on Trip and Google. The building feels more like a small apartment house, giving it a homely vibe. Towels are changed daily — they are on the thinner side but still usable.

There is **no elevator**, and the staircase is quite narrow. We were lucky to have only one medium and one small luggage, and we sent our big suitcases to the next hotel. If not, carrying them up to level 3 would have been tough.

There is a laundry room available from 9am to 9pm. If you return after 10pm, you can enter the building with your room key. Sometimes the hotel offers a morning tour (1,200 yen per person), where their staff brings you around nearby spots. It’s a 40-minute tour (7:00–7:40am or 8:00–8:40am), but not always available. I didn’t join due to a tight itinerary.

The location is convenient — just a few minutes’ walk to Lawson, Mini Stop, and Hankyu station. It’s in a quiet residential area, so nights are peaceful. Beds are comfortable, and the bathroom layout is practical, with the toilet and shower separated by the basin area.

Overall, a nice and comfortable place to stay in Arashiyama.

We enjoyed our hotel stay very much! The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was great as well. The hotel also provided bike rental (first 2 hrs is free). If you add another 1hour, it’s at 500 yen. FYI, at most can extend for 2 hrs.

I stayed here with a mom friend and her kids!
We were happy with the toys and kids' amenities!
We were also grateful that there was baby soap and a step stool by the bathroom.
Since there was no bed guard, we borrowed some pillows and put them next to the bed.
The room didn't have an internal phone, so we had to go to the front desk, which was a bit of a downside. However, there was 24-hour drink service there, so we just asked for our drinks while we were there!
The 24-hour drink service included coffee, matcha latte, cocoa, and more! We also got plenty of bottled mineral water, which was great since we had three kids in total!

We had breakfast at the cafe below the hotel.
They also had kids' plates, which the kids loved.

Absolutely satisfied 👍🏼 Highly recommended! This was the most comfortable and largest hotel I stayed at during my 7-day stay in Japan! A must-stay in Arashiyama! The air is fresh and cool, the food is amazing, and the crowds are minimal, making the streets incredibly quiet at night. The hotel is a bit far from the JR station, a 10-minute taxi ride away, but close enough to Hankyu Station for a short walk. It's clean and has new facilities. We even rented bicycles from the hotel and rode to visit the Togetsukyo Bridge, Bamboo Grove, and Tenryuji Temple—so convenient! The most expensive day trip to Arashiyama's hot springs is only 65 per person! It's super comfortable and has an outdoor patio. I also recommend two restaurants: the first requires reservations, and the other has a delicious beef bowl at Kijuro. 😋 I'll definitely be back!
