Extremely satisfied! The room was superb, and the service was top-notch. I'd definitely go back if I have the chance.
We just finished our stay at Seikoro Ryokan. It was hands down the best experience of our visit to Japan and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Kyoto. The hospitality, care, and overall execution was perfect. Our hosts and attendant were kind, professional, and saw to every detail with perfection. We loved our room. We loved our Japanese breakfast. We loved the people who became part...
What an unbelievable experience. The service was the best I’ve had in the WORLD. The people are so kind, they wait on you hand and foot. The building is a traditional almost 200 year old building and experience is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Walkability was really good too. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness. We will be back one day!! -From USA
Seikoro is pure bliss. Amazing service, great authentic Japanese food for both breakfast and dinner plus convenient location. Loved everything about this place and will definitely return!
Wow that was incredible!! The room was amazing ( clean, big and pretty ) they have traditional mattresses but they also have beds. The bathrooms are traditional Japanese bahtroom ( shower, toilets) the staff there is lovely and so kind( when you leave for the day they continue to wave at you until you cannot see you anymore) the food there is so good ( for dinner you get traditional Japanese food which...
It is quite pricey but service is great 👍 Lived in Japan for two years long time ago so was rusty on the Japanese as I'm in the UK now so might have had some mis-understanding. But our understanding of Japanese is fine 👀🫣😬 if spoken slowly. Was in travel mode so we didn't explain ish. We stayed in room 16 and had dinner and breakfast there. Would recommend 👍 our room attendant is very good 👍😊! Very...

Banda Down the beat hotel ever. Traditional interior and breakfast truly are the most marvelous experience you can ever wish for. The stuff is very kind and helpful. Everyone should stay in a Ryokan at least once in their lives.
The hotel rooms are generally too small and compact. There is a local cemetery behind it. It is not recommended to stay there. It is also difficult to find. It is located in a small alley with poor signage. It is not recommended to stay there.
Communication was effortless as all staff members spoke excellent English. The location is truly unbeatable; Yasaka Shrine (under a 5-minute walk), Hokanji Temple (10-minute walk), and Kodai-ji Temple are all within easy walking distance. There are also many charming little restaurants in the vicinity. Though close to the main shopping district, I appreciated the peaceful and relaxed ambiance, a welcome...
The location is superb, just a stone's throw from Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka. It's perfect for evening strolls and photos, as it's less crowded and the views are stunning. The room itself was spotless, though the facilities felt a little dated. Overall, I was very happy with my stay and would definitely recommend it.
The hotel's location isn't ideal, and the rest of the experience was quite mediocre. I wouldn't recommend it.
Excellent location Hotel is very nice .

Beautiful boutique hotel in downtown Shijo. Friendly, helpful staff. Walking distance to everything.
Great location! The staff are so welcoming and kind. The rooms are absolutely awesome! Huge bathroom and bathtub! So sleek and chic.
Big rooms and easy access to everything
The reception was very professional and neat, the room was very nice and luxurious. A very nice stay!! And the location is perfect.
Unfortunately, the hotel has deteriorated significantly. There are problems with damp and mold. It seems they're skimping on the air conditioning. Apparently, it doesn't get any more humid when the room is empty. I had booked a family suite and had plenty of space. However, the bathroom is one floor below. This bathroom stinks and has damp damage. There are also small animals in it. The management...

Absolutely perfect for us as a small family. The tatami area in our room was perfect for our baby to crawl around on, and there was plenty of space to set up his travel crib, or other bedding options if you want to bed share / sleep on futons. Super quiet too, and you can leave the toilet extractor fan on for white noise if that helps your baby. The common area downstairs has a high chair and utensils...
Best location (near limousine bus station & Donqi) Large room with microwave and kitchen Very clean room Recommend
This is the most impressive hotel I've ever stayed at during my trip to Japan. The reception staff were very helpful and check-in was very easy. The room was very spacious and clean. It's easy to get to from the main station, Kyoto sta., just a short walk away. I really liked it. I'll definitely stay there again next time.
I had a lot of fun! They were so kind to me in every way and I have such fond memories! I'll definitely come stay again!!
The front desk staff was very friendly, and the facilities were clean. I was very satisfied with my stay.
The service is friendly, the room is very clean, and the lobby on the first floor is very comfortable. It is great to be able to gather on the first floor to chat with friends when traveling together. I will stay here again if I have the chance.

We recently stayed 5 nights here and had an amazing experience. The level of hospitality and attention to detail made this an incredible stay. We also appreciated the helpfulness of staff at the restaurants. Assistant...
I find myself lacking in being able to offer enough superlatives to describe the experience of enjoying this hotel . The attention to detail , the personal concern , and the commitment to excellence and quality are readily evident . Genuine hospitality with a familial enthusiasm embraces one as a guest . All the staff deserve to be recognized for their dedication , and this is a testament to the leadership...
Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto is simply one of the most extraordinary hotels I have ever experienced. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is breathtaking, blending traditional Japanese elegance with modern luxury in a way that feels both sophisticated and peaceful. The location is perfect, offering easy access to Kyoto’s historic attractions while providing a quiet and relaxing retreat. The rooms...
Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto is a rare property that manages to feel both like a world-class resort and a private historical estate. For travelers who prefer privacy and exclusive access to the typical tourist crowds, this is the definitive choice in Kyoto. Aesthetics The hotel is built on historical grounds, and the entry through the massive, 300-year-old Kajiimiya Gate sets a sophisticated tone. The check...
I stayed at this extraordinary property last month while traveling through Japan for the first time. The experience exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Felt like a dream! Our stay at Seryo Ryokan in Ohara was an 11/10 experience and the highlight of our Japan trip. From arrival to departure, the service was exceptional. Friendly staff, delicious food, clean ryokan. A place I would like to visit again.
The best place I stayed during this trip. Although it was a bit far, it was still convenient to get to by public transport. The restaurant food was excellent, and the service was very attentive. The hotel was in a quiet environment, perfect for a peaceful vacation.
We stayed in a Japanese-style garden room, and the view was absolutely beautiful. In the mornings, when the sunlight streamed in, sitting in the sun and drinking tea was incredibly warm and cozy. Furthermore, the garden room was very close to the hot springs, which was very convenient.
wonderful experience. Beautiful place with an outstanding view
This is the kind of traditional Japanese inn I love. The bathhouse is located outside the residence, keeping the room from getting damp and clogged. There's also a sense of ritual about going to and from the bathhouse. The bathhouses are separate for men and women, and shoes need to be removed at the entrance, so if you're shy, you can avoid them by seeing slippers by the entrance. Mornings and late...

The Treasure Hotel in Arashiyama has Togetsukyo Bridge at its doorstep. You can feel the extreme noise and tranquility just across the door. The service staff are very warm and gentle. Staying here makes you happy both physically and mentally, and your whole mood softens.
Impeccable service, hot spring baths, the most beautiful view of Arashiyama and Togetsukyo Bridge, breakfast is worth a try
The room is very big. There is a Togetsukyo Bridge at the entrance of the hotel. The scenery is beautiful. There is a Togetsukyo Bridge on the bamboo forest path. There is also a mountain view at the entrance. The hotel's breakfast is average.
It's very good. This is my second time here. It's very comfortable. In the Arashiyama scenic area, the wooden bathtub is very comfortable to take a bath. There are no disadvantages except that I really don't like Kaiseki cuisine.
An authentic Japanese ryogan. The location is perfect, right in front of the Katsura River. We have enjoyed both the bustle daytime and quiet and beautiful night view of the river. The Asahi beer in the minibar is all complementary. Had a good night with the beer and the night view.

We stayed in the “Ohana” annex - an amazing town house with both a traditional Japanese soul and with all the modern stuff that makes your stay comfortable. The spa was a major plus, especially after a hard walk up the temple mountain. The host is very lovely too. 5 big stars!
This place was amazing. If I could give it an award 🥇 I would. If you are even remotely thinking of staying in Kyoto, stay here. We stayed in the “Oyama” room which was great. First it is in a great location which is only a few minutes from and to the station and grocery store. It has many great places to eat and things to do around the area, and the hostess gave us many good recommendations. The...
This was my first time staying at a place with no restaurant or room service. I went with my wife's mother and son, so we rented two rooms, one above the other. It's a well-built old house, so it was quieter and cleaner than I expected. I thought it would be nice to stay at a place like this every once in a while, and I was able to relax without having to worry about anyone else.
It is very quiet. If you want to experience life in Kyoto, you can stay at this hotel. The price is reasonable and the service is good. There are two supermarkets nearby and it is close to the subway and other railways. The transportation is convenient. It is very quiet at night away from the busy area. I will stay here again if I have the chance.I may change to other room types to experience.
Very spacious and convenient to train station. Our hosts were very accommodating and lovely 😊 We loved the jacuzzi set up, perfect night stay!

We LOVED our stay at The Screen. The room was a wonderful size, beautifully decorated, with a sliding door separating the bed from the couch area. Great amenities (nice breakfast daily, drinks in the mini fridge replenished with every room cleaning, a wide range of toiletries in the bathroom) but taking a star off for the bathroom. We notified the staff after the first night and they said they...
Good stay, for the price it was a great find. The room was nice but needed maintenance in terms of paint/carpet other than that it was very clean. It has a nice very view, our favorite part was the location. It was a walkable distance to many things in Kyoto. Nishiki Market is one notable space and Kawaramachi-dori Street. A great ryokan very central in Kyoto. It has been recently built/refurbished and rooms are in very good condition. The staff is very nice and attentive, breakfast is nice and if you are staying there on the days they serve dinner you should absolutely book a table. In two weeks in Japan this was our best meal (fusion Japanese/French).
This small hotel in Kyoto is in an excellent location (just a few minutes from the Gion subway station). It's elegantly decorated in Japanese style, and the room is beautiful and spacious, equipped with every comfort. The breakfast is delicious, and the reception staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
All the staffs here are very welcoming. They helped store our luggage for free as we arrived early, so that we can start exploring Kyoto. Beautiful experience, I will come again next time, very authentic Japanese service! The arrangement is well organized, I was reluctant to leave here, the owner kept watching me leave
The rooms are very elegant, and the hotel building itself is nearly 200 years old. The owner's English is very good, and the front desk's English is limited but very warm and polite. The toilet and bathroom are shared but very clean, and there are two bathrooms for bathing. It is close to commercial areas such as Shijo Kawara.
Be sure to choose breakfast, it is very unique. All the staff will go out to see you off before leaving. I ran away directly
Only when you see it with your own eyes can you know how exquisite it is. Every corner is full of history and carefully maintained beauty. It is worth coming here to experience it.
Fantastic stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan. If you want to have the experience, choose this hotel. The rooms are a dream, the courtyard garden is simply wonderful. The dinner was good and the room was quite spacious. The hot spring was a bit small, but luckily it wasn't crowded.
The hotel is located in a very picturesque spot, with onsen baths overlooking the mountain. We had a delicious traditional dinner with wagyu beef cooked on a hotspot and a traditional breakfast. Staff were amazing and hand written note when checking out was a great personal touch. Would highly recommend this hotel and if we are back in Kyoto will definitely be staying back at the Mimaru. Loved our short stay.
Perfect for families! Only 200 meters from Kyoto Station. My kids absolutely loved the bunk beds and the Pokémon theme. They even gave us a little gift and some cookies. When we checked out, they gave us a handwritten card. The service was incredibly thoughtful.
Counter staffs all very friendly and helpful, check-in was smooth and fast. Very convenient location, 5 mins walk to Kyoto train station which was very convenient to travel back to Tokyo.

We love our stay at this place, Almost perfect The room was clean and as expected a bit small but LARGE for Japan . The only thing that I would change is Chairs and table to stay in the room are extra from my POV I would have remove a chair and a table and just leave the night stand and a chair to have a bit more of room for luggage But Everything was just perfect

I stayed here 3 nights in Kyoto although the location is not near any major tourist areas its a lovely hotel right off the train line. In fact you simply go down the stairs to get to the station. The food was delicious. The room had a slight odor, and I was bothered by how clearly I could hear sounds from the hallway (there was a gap under the door).
The place was great, very try clean and comfortable stay. There are no complaints during the entire stay.
Be sure to stay a couple of days and experience this wonderful place. The setting is very beautiful and traditional.
The hotel is located about ten minutes' walk from the tram station. The environment is quiet, the scenery is pleasant, the layout is very Japanese, the breakfast and food taste good, the person in charge is very friendly, there is a 24-hour supermarket three minutes away, and the price is not expensive.
The room facilities are good, with Japanese tatami. The bathroom, washroom, and toilet are separated, but not cramped (if not, the space would be very large). The breakfast was a bit unexpected (first time traveling in Japan), it was a full salty breakfast, sashimi, soup, etc. (with a small dessert). My 10-year-old child is not used to such a breakfast, and I am not used to eating sashimi in the morning...

The upside was the room was large. But the bathroom was, again, in need of updating and felt shabby. It was a disappointing stay in...
