The room I had was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower provided good flow of hot water, room had two single beds in it, tv on the wall was massive. However the furniture is quite dated and the bathroom was also not particularly modern and there was no plug for the sink. The breakfast was fine there was plentiful cereal, selection of bread, ham and cheeses. Plus hot scrambled eggs and sausages and bacon. Tea, coffee, fruit juices etc. the hotel has a great location near to the ferry and the outside pool , would have been inviting if the weather had been warmer. There was air conditioning in the room I was in but it could nt be controlled from my room, and it was nit particularly quiet. It was a good place to stay for the 3 nights i was there and it was cheaper than the other options. I was not there peak season , so I suspect it was a bit quieter.

Our stay was surprisingly nice. Me and a couple of friends were staying in Mariehamn for a few days and were honestly not expecting much. However, the quality of our rooms (we noticed there were a lot of different types however) and the perfect location by the sea were perfect. I especially loved the view to the sea with a ship in the middle and a stunning sunset in the back.

The breakfast was very standart, but the hotel staff made up for it by being very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers free bikes for its guests which i highly recommend, having in mind that the Åland islands are perfect for biking.

We were also surprised the hotel offered a pretty kitted out gym, a sauna, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools. With all of that in mind, I highly recommend Cikada hotel if you're planning a trip to the Åland islands.

The best hotel to film the next episode of HOTEL HELL. The hotel could not have been worse. 1. The rooms were smelling badly, the room temperature was always above 30 degrees Celsius , no air conditioning or possibility to air the room, and a hot towel drier providing additional heating turning the room into a tiny hell. We could not sleep in the night. The towels we got were smelling horribly, so we only used our own bath towels.
2. The breakfast; the bread was old, covered with dirty towel, and we we found mould on some slices of bread. The lady attending the breakfast area was coughing on the food.
In summary, the hotel has no standards on hygiene.

The only redeeming features of this hotel are its location and the surprisingly pleasant swimming pool. Everything else? A slow descent into hospitality hell. We were given a room in the attic, which I can only assume is where they send guests they really don’t like. It was an oven. No AC, barely any ventilation, and a tiny window that opened just enough to let in a single fly, who promptly died from the heat. The air was so stale I considered learning photosynthesis just to survive the nights. I ended up sleeping with the room door open like I was camping in a badly ventilated sauna. As if that wasn’t enough, breakfast came with a complimentary side of moldy bread. The dining tables hadn’t seen a clean cloth in what I assume was decades. Hygienic standards? More like a social experiment. And the towels—dear god, the towels. They smelled like they’d dried on a goat farm during monsoon season. I wouldn’t wipe a spilled drink with them, let alone my body. If you’re looking for a centrally located place with a pool and enjoy breathing through a straw, this place might be for you. Otherwise, run. (See the attached photos for proof I wasn’t hallucinating from the heat.)

The only good things about the hotel is the location and the quite nice swimming pool. Otherwise my experience was pretty bad. I got a room on the attic which was very hot. No AC and terrible ventilation, no air to breath. I slept very badly because the lac of fresh air. You can only open a tiny window and you have to keep the door to the room open to get some air flow. They served moldy bred for breakfast and the dining tables were dirty. Please look at the pictures below that I took during my stay.

Our experience was extremely disappointing and fell far below acceptable standards. I have traveled extensively and stayed in hotels across dozens of countries — and I have never encountered such a traumatizing experience as we did at Hotel Cikada. The room had a strong unpleasant smell and felt unclean upon arrival. There was no air conditioning, despite the hot July weather, and the towel dryer in the bathroom emitted constant heat, worsening the room temperature. The main window could not be opened, there was only a tiny ventilation holewindow that was insufficient for air circulation. There was no fridge in the room. The bathroom towels smelled strongly( of dirty feet ) and appeared unwashed. We had to use our own emergency towels. Breakfast & Hygiene Concerns; The food smelled old, and mould was found on the bread. No utensils were provided for serving bread, leading to guests handling it directly. The towels covering the bread were visibly dirty and smelled mouldy. The staff member attending the breakfast area was repeatedly coughing near the food. In summary, the hotel has no hygiene standards.

The Hotel itself was nice, clean, and comfy. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We didn't use facilities other than the outside pool. Water was warm, + 27 degrees which was great since the weather wasn't too hot. Breakfast was good, very basic. Our room was clean and perfect size. We paid extra 15 euros per day for the balcony, and it was totally worth it! We had a stright view to the Pommern ship, pool etc. Would recommend the place especially, if you prefer more "homelike" hotels 😍 Would book again!

Great little hotel with a bit of a rustic feel to it. This is no luxury resort but everything works with a logical feel. Outdoor pool was nice, reception friendly and helpful. There is a "home made" feel about this place, compared to chain hotels. Location is really good if you want to be near the port. Nice locales around the hotel, a wonderful park and a small boats port. Very near the Pommern and naval museum, 10 minutes walk from the city center. Room i had didn't have a fridge. The shower water pressure was good, but the temperature varied a bit. The shower was integrated onto a bathtub. Breakfast was very basic but for the price actually pretty adequate. You get your bacon and eggs, toast and yoghurt. The TV in the room was actually really huge (like 65") and modern. Not bad. Great value for very little money.

The room was quite dated and smelled a bit bad. The breakfast was totally adequate, nothing to write home about, but also not bad. It's your usual Nordic fare with cold cuts, cheese, vegetable, yoghurt and a couple of hot dishes, coffee, tea and juice. The outdoor pool was a nice bonus and all the staff we interacted with were very polite and helpful.

A private owned (?) hotel in the centre of Mariehamn, close to the Viking boat Ferry terminal. The hotel was a bit worn out but still clean and pretty fresh. It felt more like a boarding house / hostel, than a hotel. It did not really matter, we only stayed one night. The bathroom was an extra plus, really really clean and fresg and felt newly renovated. This is most important to us; a fresh bathroom and clean beds
