Had a meal here with my wife and the food was to say the least was totally amazing. If I could give this establishment six stars I would. Staff friendly prices were very competitive for the stunning quality of everything we had. I would strongly recommend everything and am unable to fault a thing.

We had a great stay at this hotel : service is excellent with really attentive people. The design of the room and the hotel is singular and beautiful. Everything looks cosy and welcoming. Tasteful breakfast with a large choice, nice drinks at the bar. The hotel is located in the city center witch is very practical for site seeing.

We stayed over the Eleanor hotel for one night in the Lou room. Very nicely decorated, top location very close to the center but without the noise, top equipment and comfort of the bed. Great location in the center of Middelburg. Very kind staff, good bar, great breakfast. The only thing is that the toilet is in the room without a closeable door, something to keep in mind if you are staying with a friend or your new lover :-). And the shower turned cold/mid warm in the morning, which kinda sucked.

Another reviewer commented that this was more like a boutique hotel than a B&B and we would agree. Comfortable, stylish, friendly service and plentiful continental breakfast served to your table - perfect for our whistle stop cycling tour of Zeeland. We were able to store our bikes in the cellar which was very handy.

Visiting Middelburg for a few days with my cousin we decided to book the Poorthuys which was a very good choice . The B&B is located near the old center of Middelburg and it was very easy to go different directions to explore this nice Province . The rooms and the beds were excellent , it is a very quiet area to have a great sleep and the breakfasts every morning were amazing , very well balanced...

We had a lovely stay in the hotel. The host welcomed us and also was very helpful in making our stay a pleasant one. The rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. Also the breakfast in the morning was a nice start of the day. Also it is nicely located in the city center in a beautiful area.

Good location and ambiance from the hotel

The staff were very kind to us. We had booked a double room, but moved to the family room at a small extra cost - for more comfort. The breakfast is excellent. We will stay here again.

Good hotel The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good and we had a nice view of the canal from our room. It wasn’t the biggest room (there was only space for one bedside table) but the beds were comfortable and it was quiet. There was good safe storage for our bikes.

The hotel is in a great location. The city center is just a stone's throw away. The room was incredibly small; it was more suitable for a single room; you could barely walk past each other. The hygiene wasn't great. There are dirty yellow stains on the duvet and curtain. The glassware at breakfast was dirty and worn out. There were no fruit juices because the machine was broken. No jugs of orange juice...

Location is perfect 3min walk from the train station and 5min from the centre. Breakfast and facilities in the room could be better but in general very satisfied in terms of cleanliness, quiet and located in a safe area. Heating in the room is fine but no AC in rooms which might be an issue in summer.

This was my first visit to the area.... I am so happy that I selected this hotel. I look forward to returning with my wife.

A good night's sleep I was in Middelburg for a funeral, so I only stayed one night. The room was perfect for my needs - no complaints!

Actually, my wife and I stayed here in August 2023. This is good hotel, opposite the train station. We had a spacious room with two comfortable chairs. Modern bathroom; however, the (sliding) door is partially transparent, so if one of us visits the bathroom at night, the other wakes up as well. Breakfast was OK. The hotel was expensive (we paid over €200 for one night, including breakfast).

Good value, clean with attentive staff We stayed in a nice room, clean, plenty of space with a good strong shower - no bath. However to room could do with better lighting especially over the wardrobe area where the safe was - could hardly see the numbers! Also the only mirror was in the bathroom

Nice clean and efficient hotel. We arrived after a long day at 2200hrs. Check was quick and efficient. Unfortunately, the food service stopped at 2100hrs but they offered to cook us pizza which was very kind and absolutely delicious. Parking was easy and plentiful. Rooms are clean, well equipped and perfectly functional. I will definitely be using this hotel in the future.

Nice hotel, good location near the beach. Clean, but rooms didn’t get vacuumed each day. We had sand dragged in on the first day on the floor for several days. Good breakfast. Overall would stay there again.

I have been here several times over the years. I love it. Everyone is always so friendly, our dog can always come with us. The food is great and the rooms are clean and comfy. FOr me the pool could be a little warmer, but thats all.

Hotel was basic - rooms could do with some renovation - but everything serviceable. Hotel restaurant can be recommended.

A cozy Hotel with a nice bar inside and a terrace on back of the hotel. It was really amazing I was there only for two days and I was sleeping so nice with no noise at night. Friendly staff and good breakfast. It’s near the beach so you can always have a walk near the sea and there’s a park behind it. I would recommend it. And woohoo they were gay friendly.

Good customer service just the room was smaller than expected and the bathroom was stinky when we came in we didnt botger to complain cause its just for 1 night. Breakfast was 7/10 not so much choices We had the best view though. And you have to pay for your car to park 11.50 wat een flauw.

Very kind staff and the hotel itself is nice with a pretty view on the sea. One thing that really annoyed us was the bedroom door doing the siren sound everytime we opened it… having stayed there with a baby, it was very frustrating. Breakfast was okay.

To whom this may concern. I was very disappointed in the hotel hotline, the Jung lady who picked up the phone spoke Dutch and I asked her, if she speaks English and she said no and hung up the phone. The call was taken place at 21:35 on Wednesday 25 of February. Very unpolite & unprofessional. My work colleagues like the hotel, I will still consider to book a room. Sorry for the bad news

Some driving distance from Middelburg center but great breakfast and amazing facilities! Good gym, pool, Sauna, steam bath etc. Would for sure stay here again in the future!

I wanted to have a good rest there and I had it : there is a very good sound insulation between rooms, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is in overall very clean. The spa part is quite small but you have everything you need : cold and hot sauna / hammam / swimming-pool, even a nice gym (if only I knew !) A great hotel but if you need to do any work online you will struggle. The wifi is intermittent and slow doesn’t begin to cover it. The area also has shocking mobile coverage so very difficult to work from here.

I came here with high expectations, but the personnel doesn’t seem to be kids friendly. The hotel is in good condition, but old. There is no swimming pool in the winter and the privé sauna was fully booked. On the other hand, there is a nice lounge with free coffee/thee and a good food restaurant.

Very charming hotel, nice and quiet swimming pool, free coffee & tea in their lounge ! Perfect breakfast, which can be enjoyed on the terrace. It seems several rooms have huge terraces as well, we have to come back ! Bicycles available, a big plus in this area. Close to Renesse shopsw while the sea is a bit far (15 min walk).

We visited this beautiful restaurant at Easter and really enjoyed it: the food was excellent (fish, steak, and dessert). The service was very friendly and quick. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside. But the location inside is also very nice.

Bare-bones rooms, but very clean and comfortable. No air conditioning, but fan in rooms. Still was very warm. Breakfast included and was excellent. Lovely location.

Don't be fooled, the hotel website shows pictures of a castle, but the actual hotel is a few hundred meters down a lane and is a modern ground-floor motel-like building. The castle is used as an event venue (weddings mainly) and the hotel is where guests lodge. That said, the hotel is very pleasant. Simple, but functional rooms. A very good breakfast buffet. On the picture, one can see a medieval castle and imagines that’s where the hotel is. No. The hotel is a few hundred meters away, a single storey construction. From outside, it looks like a cluster of chalets. Good free parking. It’s a shame that pets aren’t allowed: the area is all nature around.

Stayed @ the hotel before. Good breakfast lots of choices. Room and beds(two singles) are basic but comfortable. Bathroom could use an update. The bath tub shower combination ended up giving issues with water running onto the floor. Would prefer a plain shower stall and no tub. Got some issues with the electronic key. 3 time I had to go back to reception for a new key.. as the old one locked me out...

Breakfast is not the best: solely continental level with only 2 hot dishes. Sauna (ask ahead to switch it on) is good, pool is maybe 25' which is 2-3' colder than a hotel pool should be. Great staff on reception, good breakfast and view from restaurant. Hotel itself feels basic and tired. The room was clean but smelt a little musty. Didn’t help that the weather wasn’t great for our 1 night stay but hotel and location just felt a bit grey and depressing.
