Свято-Троицкий Ипатьевский монастырь - один из красивейших и древнейших монастырей России. Основан в первой половине XIV в. на стрелке р. Волги и Костромы, как пригородная крепость. Территория монастыря состоит из двух частей: Старого и Нового города. Оба участка обнесены высокими каменными стенами.
- Старый город имеет форму неправильного пятиугольника. Композиционный центр монастыря — монументальный пятиглавый Троицкий собор.
- Новый город был отстроен вдоль западной стены по указу Михаила Фёдоровича Романова. Он был обнесён высокими стенами с двумя воротами и тремя башнями: двумя наугольными и надвратной, средней между ними. Последняя (известная также как «Зелёная» по цвету черепичной крыши) с восьмигранным каменным шатром была заложена в месте, где 19 марта 1613 года остановился крестный ход, провожавший Михаила Фёдоровича в Москву после его избрания на царство.

This painting,as I haven't seen anywhere, not a single centimeter nope not painted . Here you need to visit, definitely will not forget this place. Plus a very interesting collection in the Museum, many of the Church's exhibits 15-19 centuries. Very beautiful and interesting.

Beautiful structures is a dream for any photographer. The internal arrangement of the temple is also incredible beauty. I advise everyone to visit this place!

A large monastery. Away from the city center, but worth a look if you are going to Kostroma. The entrance to the territory is paid. Inside a number of museums.

Serenity at its best! Such a wonderful place to be and enjoy the silence around. Fantastically maintained and has some good souvenir shops around along with a cafe inside.
