Ramada Hervey Bay in Hervey Bay

We booked a room for my family (4 people) to spend Christmas week in Hervey Bay. The hotel is very good; the room is like a small apartment, with a kitchen and laundry, which I thought was great. The staff are friendly, the hotel is clean, and the pool is very good, even part of it is heated. But what I was very disappointed about is that there is no room service. Yesterday we went out for a tour of Fraser Island, and when I returned, the room hadn't been cleaned. I have two children and needed a little cleaning in the bathrooms, emptying the bins
, and replacing the towels. I complained at reception, and the lady who was there at the time informed me that my room wasn't entitled to room service. I didn't even know this; it was never made clear in my reservation. I found it very disappointing.

I've stayed at hotels so many times, but this was the first time I encountered a card issue that didn't work and wouldn't open my door. Plus, there was no one at the front desk that day, and I couldn't get through by phone. Luckily, I ran into the staff locking the pool, who gave me a spare card. Otherwise, I would have had to sleep in the lobby and still pay for the room.

The Ramada is not a motel. This much was obvious when we walked into our room. It was super spacious, with a full-sized fridge, a stove, microwave, washer-dryer, and dishwasher. The floor, however, was tile. The bathroom was dark, and the sofa a little worse for wear. The toiletries were on the sparse side. One tube each of bath gel, shampoo, etc for three people was not adequate. The good news is that our bed was decent and the entire room was clean. The room also had a patio overlooking the pool and spa.

We did not use the restaurant, but noted that one was there. Brekky was not included with our stay. There are other amenities coming soon to this location: a meeting room and a gym. It's not clear when these will be available for customers to use.

The staff seemed friendly and helpful.

If I had to trek to Hervey Bay again, I'd likely stay here again. The hotel is very well suited for people who are on an extended stay or who want to be close to the marina so that they can walk to either the Boat Club or to the tour boats. Even better, the price represents value in a timely when that is becoming more and more rare!
