If you are looking for a quiet hostel, this is the right place. I loved the fact that they are traditional beds and not bunk beds.

The stay was amazing, very clean and friendly. Not too loud and not too quiet. Best Hostel we have been in!
Kitchen was cleaned many times during the day, bathrooms were always spotless and they only have single ones so you have some privacy. Nice team, Joe showed us around and we loved our room which was affordable and comfy. Parking is possible right next to the hostel for 6$ only per day. We can definitely recommend this hostel!

The room I stayed in was unbearably hot and humid.The airconditioner was tiny and old and hardly cooled the room down. It was so loud it was like sleeping next to an old truck and leaked ice and water onto the floor. The shower was also mouldy. Reception was helpful and friendly, it was safe, everyone was quiet after 10pm. Okay for the price just stay in winter.

I stayed at the Civic Guesthouse for 1 night and I would stay there again. I was impressed with the hardworking Joe who wore many hats that day from being the driver of their free shuttle bus, to answering emails/phone calls, to being the receptionist checking us in and giving us a personal tour, to housekeeping. It seemed he was the only one working that day, but he was an excellent one-man band and responded to our every need promptly. The hostel itself was great and layed out spaciously for different types of people, whether you like to mingle with people or read quietly alone. The rooms were clean. The only suggestion I would say for management is: bathroom upgrade 😊

This hostel is disgusting.
We stayed for one night and it felt completely unsanitary/unsafe to eat or wash here. The kitchen was left in a repulsive state come 7pm when we arrived, not enough of the guests have any interest in tidying up after themselves so the reputation falls and no one else cleans either. Sinks don't drain in the kitchen, food left out everywhere, bins overflowing. We raised with the staff (who were friendly enough people) and they said they hadn't seen it but it would be cleaned that evening - how you couldn't be aware of the state of the entire place is beyond me. The bathrooms are all dirty, used sanitary towels on the floor, bins overflowing again, bogies wiped on walls and just not clean. We are early risers so got in the kitchen at 6am when it opened, it was a hell of a lot cleaner so we used it but the sinks don't drain, crockery/cutlery isn't cleaned properly and the fridges/food tops look like they haven't been touched in years. Even at this time in the morning until about 8am people already start leaving food on the sides everywhere.
The room was just as bad, bedding was clean and fresh which was good, but the 4 bed dorm looked like it'd be lived in by one single person we could see occupying a bunk for about 4 months. Mouldy food left out, the room stunk etc. The aircon wasn't very good, filters also never looked like they'd been cleaned and we didn't want to put the ceiling fan on because it would just spin the dust which was about an inch thick on the blades.
It's a cheaper stay in a good location, with a nice walk to castle hill but don't expect any level of hygiene here from the hostel management or guests staying here with no respect for others!

Great hostel to stay at for the night before travelling to Magnetic Island! Small but friendly vibes, they can pick you up and drop you off from the greyhound/ferry terminal for free. Highly recommended Civic Guest house ☺️

We had the privilege of having our own double room, still with the social kitchen and living spaces. A great hostel, with all the facilities you could need, very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean, AND a bath! :D Would definitely recommend.

Shouldn't turn light off at 10 pm in the living room many guests was still using facilities there. Should have more food shelves.

Is is a good Hostel, everything is clean, the staff is really friendly and they have a few single beds and a fridge in the dorm. The kitchen has everything you need and it's clean, the chill area looks pretty and they have a pool table. I can recommend this Hostel to you, it has much to offer even though it is cheap.
