Holiday Inn Express IQUIQUE by IHG in Iquique

We stayed at this Holiday Inn Express for six nights over the New Year period. When we read the reviews it was all very positive and our stay was okay, but there are lots of little things that were disappointing.
The breakfast in the morning gets very crowded and it's a small food service space so you need to get up early to beat the rush. The breakfast had a variety of different sweet milks but no regular dairy milk.
The rooms are comfortable. We had a beach view room and a pool view room both of which were okay as long as you're on a higher floor. I recommend no lower than the fourth floor to enjoy the view. The beach view is definitely more beautiful but you may get traffic noise. The pool view is nice and you can see the mountains too, but you do get a bit of noise from the pool.
The pool itself is nice but it gets very busy and I'm not sure how clean it was. The gym is pretty good with a few machines and doesn't get busy.
The key to access the rooms was annoying. For some reason they deactivated every day so we had to request it be reprogrammed.
The staff were friendly but most do not speak English. I was surprised at this for an international hotel.
The location opposite Playa Brava is good but Playa Brava is not a swimming beach, it's very dangerous. So the view is nice and you go for walks along that beach, but Cavancha Beach is the only beach for a swim which is about a 10 minute walk away.
The hotel is a short walk to a supermarket and many other shops which is very convenient. A huge disadvantage with this hotel is it doesn't have a restaurant or bar. The only food they provide after breakfast is a little kiosk with premade meals and overpriced snacks. The outdoor seating is very nice so you can get take away and eat meals there.
The rooms are not very soundproof. We had a connecting room and could hear the people next door quite clearly and the sound in the hallway travels as well.
Overall, for the price, this hotel is a comfortable place to stay.

Nice rooms and hotel , breakfast is good, service is excellent, and the price is right.

Confirtable bed and good wifi.
Bathroom could use some renovations.
Lobby staff very friendly.

The front desk staff is friendly and there is a staff member in the restaurant who can speak a few words of Chinese.

The room is spacious and close to the sea, with a sea view. Breakfast is OK.

Good hotel, spacious room and comfortable. The beach is just opposite the hotel. 1 hour walking to Central city or can go by Uber

The hotel is right by the sea, and you can enjoy the rough sea from the room. There is no hair dryer in the room, you need to ask the front desk to borrow it. The breakfast is very simple, with few varieties, which is equivalent to the breakfast category of Hanting.

Facilities: relatively old, average WI-FI signal, strong smell in the room, comfortable bedding.

Hygiene: good

Environment: close to the beach, close to tourist attractions
Service: so-so
