I was quite disappointed with my experience, as it fell far short of what one would expect from a five-star hotel.

Upon entering the lobby, I was met with a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which was very unpleasant.

While the room was spacious, it lacked functionality:
• No power sockets in the study area or bathroom.
• No mirror suitable for applying makeup.
• The room was not equipped for cold weather, offering only cold air conditioning.
• The shower leaked into the toilet area, had low water pressure, and the water temperature was inconsistent. (My friend stayed in the same room type and encountered even worse issues — no flush in the toilet and no hot water in the shower.)

There’s also a notice in the room about some maintenance works half a year ago, which did not seem relevant anymore.

The breakfast buffet was very crowded, and the dessert (tiramisu) was also disappointing; it seemed they did not know how to make a proper tiramisu.

Additionally, the hotel allowed guests to attend the buffet breakfast in pyjamas, which felt inappropriate for a property of this calibre.

Every room we were shown (3, 7th 8th & 9th floor) smelled strongly of mold. All showers were significantly moldy with dark mould and pink shower fungi that had not been cleaned. We believe the mold has spread into the AC system. None of the foyer or hallways smelled, but there was no AC in these locations.

We obtained a refund after being told "every hotel in China has this, and it cannot be fixed" and we moved to a different hotel. We have the same mold in Australia, but it is easily controlled with appropriate cleaning and sanitizing.

The service was prompt and polite and they were apologetic, but the whole building needs major deep cleaning and fumigating.

The Hilton Haikou is excellent. It offers a stunning cloud-level view overlooking Haikou Bay. The facilities are new and well-equipped, and the cleanliness is top-notch. The staff are warm and attentive, and the breakfast is delicious. Overall, it's a high-end and comfortable hotel, making it a great value-for-money five-star option in downtown Haikou.

The hotel is great and very convenient. The butler service at reception was excellent. The room was also very clean, and the breakfast spread was impressive. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Hainan. Highly recommended!

I booked a twin room for my parents and children, specifically choosing the Hilton Haikou. They had a very comfortable stay. The facilities were clearly marked and easy to use. The shower stall was also quite slip-resistant. The room was quiet, odorless, spacious, and bright. The mattress was just right—not too soft, not too firm—and very supportive for the back, as was the backrest chair. It's a ten-minute walk to nearby attractions, yet the hotel is away from the bustling downtown area, surrounded by greenery and water, which was very pleasant.

The location is convenient, and the pool is decent. Breakfast is also quite tasty. I can overlook the outdated facilities. However, the front desk service was absolutely terrible. I bought a dinner voucher through Trip.com, and the front desk gave me an expired, invalid one. When I went to dinner, they kept scrutinizing it and wouldn't let it go until I showed them the order confirmation. The whole experience was utterly undignified. For the same price, I could have stayed at a Sheraton; the difference in quality is night and day.

Haven't stayed at a Hilton in ages, and I can't believe how bad it's gotten! The room was incredibly old and filthy. As soon as I walked in, there was a strong musty smell, and the carpet was absolutely disgusting! And get this, the towels even had grease stains – so gross. They only provided two bottles of water, and the hairdryer barely blew any air. I'm speechless. Plus, parking was a nightmare; it took me a good 20 minutes to find a spot.
