ARANYA MOCUN RESORT in Deqing

I highly recommend this hotel. It's exceptionally clean; among the many hotels I've stayed at costing 2000 RMB and above, this one felt the cleanest. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. It's a fantastic choice for a vacation, a relaxing getaway, or a trip with friends. Their breakfast is superb, offering a wide variety of options, and definitely provides great value for money. Overall, an excellent stay.

The renowned M Village Hotel boasts an truly excellent location, with impressive overall design and attention to detail. This is likely thanks to its first owner, a Frenchman with great taste. The property has since been sold to a wealthy Chinese businessman, but I wouldn't be surprised if it changes hands again in the future. The rooms are nice, and the swimming pool is very photogenic, but to my surprise, the water was salty!

The hotel boasts a wonderful ambiance, and its design aesthetic is truly on point. It was incredibly comfortable to stay here, and I thoroughly enjoyed unwinding for two days. Both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were quite good. Exploring the local farmhouse restaurants and noodle shops down the mountain was also a nice treat.

The only real downside was the shower. It lacked proper wet-dry separation, relying only on a shower curtain, which meant a large part of the bathroom floor would get completely soaked after showering. Additionally, the shower head had very weak water flow and insufficient pressure. And to top it off, the bathwater came out yellowish 😂.

Despite these minor issues, everything else was fantastic, and I would definitely return!

The design aesthetic is truly on point, with a wonderful rustic, wilderness feel. There are no recreational facilities, and the surroundings are quite remote, making it perfect for just relaxing and unwinding in your room.

At over 3000 (yuan), it feels a bit overpriced; I'd say it's only worth it if it's under 2000.

Upon check-out, they give you a small souvenir and then ask you to leave a positive review. The butler even prepares the text and photos for you to simply copy-paste. While it's something I probably would have done anyway, they started hounding me for it before I even got home. Seriously, do I owe you something? And for two packets of tea from their own tea garden? That's hardly worth the constant nagging... Don't be so desperate!

Mocun Guesthouse is now my go-to place for Anji and Moganshan.
Loved the design, the soft furnishings, and the pool.
The breakfast was much better and more varied than on my previous visit.
The only drawback was how crowded breakfast was during the summer holidays.
Despite guests signing an agreement against commercial photography, there were clearly many commercial shoots going on. It was evident from the moment many groups checked in that they were there for professional photoshoots.

A beautiful hotel. It was quiet and uncrowded on weekdays, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the restaurant served delicious food. It's perfect for a short weekend getaway.

We booked the Mo Village Hotel, Huzhou's top-ranked luxury hotel, for over 4000 CNY a night. It was advertised as a 'Suite on the Third Floor of the Main Building' (see image 2), which led us to believe it was a three-story suite. It turned out to simply be a suite *located* on the third floor – incredibly misleading for customers!

To top it off, this 4000+ CNY suite, meant for four guests, only had *one* bathroom, with the shower and toilet sharing the same space. The shower was merely enclosed by a simple fabric curtain, meaning the entire bathroom floor would get drenched whenever someone took a shower. This effectively made the toilet and sink unusable for others at the same time, forcing us to queue – a dreadful experience reminiscent of a communal dorm bathroom! What's more, the towels and bath towels were placed right next to the toilet. If someone didn't remember to close the lid before flushing (a traditional toilet), the splashing water and aerosolized particles would inevitably spray directly onto the fresh towels!

Moving on to amenities: the entire suite only had *one* tissue box, located in the living room – none in the two bedrooms, and none in the bathroom! The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided were just one small set (see image 3). Even after only two men in our group used them on the first night (the two ladies didn't), they were not replenished on the second day!

The bedrooms were incredibly spartan, with no desk, wardrobe, or even a trash can. The bedding comfort was mediocre, making the rooms feel quite rudimentary (see image 1).

The hotel states that commercial photography is prohibited, yet every corner seemed to be used for commercial shoots. In my opinion, this hotel is really only suitable for photo opportunities and commercial filming. While the public areas are indeed very photogenic, boasting a French country style, the attention to detail is poor, and the comfort level of our particular suite was merely average.

While the hotel staff were indeed excellent, friendly, and always greeted us, their good service simply couldn't compensate for the glaring deficiencies in our overall stay experience!

I adored the inn's muted, off-white tones – from the floors to the sofas and floor lamps – it was exactly what I'd picture for my ideal living space.

The staff's patience, thoughtfulness, and warm smiles created a perfectly unobtrusive and comforting atmosphere, making even someone with social anxiety like myself feel completely at ease.

It's often said that every 'inn' or 'guesthouse' has a story to tell, much like 'Hotel California' or the 'Chelsea Hotel.' Mocun Inn is no exception. A delightful surprise during my stay was rereading Mu Xin's essay, 'Bamboo Show,' while relaxing on one of the sofas. What made this particularly special was knowing that the essay was penned in the author's former villa near Jianchi, a mere 2.8 kilometers from Mocun Inn.

I particularly appreciated that the inn prohibits live streaming and commercial photography.

And the small Belgian wheat beer offered at Mocun Inn? Absolutely delightful on the palate.

This marks the first time I've ever actively gone online to write a review, and that's purely because the experience was truly exceptional. (Though, perhaps it's just my small-town nature showing, as I don't get out much!)

The overall environment is great, but the in-room facilities definitely didn't live up to the price. We were quite surprised that the shower only had a curtain. Our attic room was uncomfortably warm because one of the AC units wasn't working. To make matters worse, a friend's separate room reeked of cigarette smoke. While the setting itself is very pleasant, the overall value for money was poor.

Mocun Inn is highly recommended. The atmosphere is superb, especially how incredibly quiet it gets at night! Every detail of the facilities exudes a distinctive charm, and I particularly enjoyed the restaurant's ambiance. This was just a one-night preliminary experience, but I'll certainly be back for another stay!
