Camping la Forêt in St. Jean-de-Monts

6 night break from our home in Brittany, to explore this part of the Vendée coast. Having struggled to find decent accommodation on Île Noirmoutier we came across Camping Resort La Foret and were glad we did. It's a small site, (just 40 emplacements I think), but is wonderfully laid out with attractive plants and shrubs that border the gravel paths. Our villa came with a private garden and a separate jacuzzi which we made full use of. The swimming pool, whilst not huge was adequate for our usage and heated at the perfect temperature, neither too warm or cold. It didn't matter what time we went to the pool there was always an abundance of sun loungers to choose although finding shade may be an issue. We liked the dedicated parking space and the fact that cars were restricted to the parking just inside the barriers. We hired bikes on site (just the one day!) to visit St Jean de monts about 20/25 mins away. Final word on the small team running this family owned resort. Nothing was too much of a problem for them, anything we needed was quickly provided. Happy to recommend.

The family who runs the campsite is incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help. Their hospitality really stands out, and you can tell they genuinely care about their guests’ experience. They take great pride in the campsite, and it shows in how clean, tidy, and well-maintained everything is.

A huge bonus for me was the gym. As someone who enjoys keeping up with a daily workout routine, having access to a well-equipped gym was a fantastic addition to our stay.

We enjoyed our time here so much that we actually extended our stay, which says it all. The peaceful atmosphere, excellent facilities, and genuine hospitality made it difficult to leave.

This is the most Tranquil & Peaceful campsite/lodges you will ever visit run by a lovely family. Location you are spoilt for choice from the exit for a bike ride by velodyssey or a walk by a path in the shade of the forest that takes us directly to the beautiful beaches of Vendée. And what about the infrastructure: everything is tasteful, beautifully decorated lodges equipped with quality equipment, carefully maintained pitches and vegetation. The Pool area is lovely with an heated outdoor pool & jacuzzi very quite, beds always available so so peaceful. The food is very good and a great variety to takeaway. A special mention for the quality of its welcome and the kindness of its staff always listening to its guests.

Super nice team, beautiful mobile homes with all necessary commodities, great situation with next to no traffic. Wonderfully quiet during the night. Located right next to an amazing pine forest - wonderful for running, biking and hiking.

The pool could be larger, our kids missed a football/multisports field and we had to drive farther away to get to beach spots with actual waves (something to be aware of with adventure-seeking teenagers), but the camping itself is top-notch.

We had a wonderful vacation with our one-year old daughter. La Forêt is a lovely small-scale campsite! Calm and relaxing atmosphere even in peak season. Clean, well-maintained, and a beautiful pool. Delicious on-site food, perfect for families with young kids (who don't need a playground/animation team) Only minor point: pillows could use an upgrade (we already donated two 😉).

Parking on site. No camping anymore, all mobile homes. Location is excellent. Literally 500m from beach. Excellent cycle paths and easy to rent bikes. Mobile homes have their own kitchen or you can pre-order meals on site. Staff very friendly and helpful. Site is small and quiet too

Lovely stay. Great pool. Great location - short walk to beach. Very quiet campsite without entertainment, or bar. Accomodation is of a really high standard. About a 20-25 min walk to Notredame de mont along beach or through the wood. Very enjoyable stay here.

An absolutely lovely spot. A few mins walk to the beach through the forest. Wonderful. Easy access to supermarkets, shops and restaurants. This coast is of a bygone era. Classy, unfussy resorts with a lovely atmosphere. The family at La Foret are always around to ensure the site is immaculate and facilities spotless. Some pitches are "tight" so ensure you know your outfit size when you book. There are pitches of varying sizes and sun and shade. Excellent small takeaway on site. We will be back!!

What a wonderful find! We have camped many times in England but never in France and have to say I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. This site is wonderful. We were drawn to it because it was small, close to the beach and had a pool for our boys, but wasn’t commercial. The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating, they speak English, French, German and Dutch. The site is spotlessly clean and the pool was a lovely 28 degrees! There is food offered such as bakery items and pizzas as well as ice cream - Euphoria was our favourite! There are two nearby towns, Notre Dame de Monts and St Jean de Monts which have everything you need including some great markets. The beach is so close and is beautiful. It’s vey unspoilt and we loved walking there in the evenings. There are some great days out in the area. Our boys loved the trip to Le Grand Défi which is a fantastic park for families with lots of activities such as tree climbing (Go Ape in England), aqua park, disk golf, laser game etc. The view from the Kulmino water tower was excellent and the interactive boards there give you a great explanation of what you are seeing. The Vélo Rail in Commequiers was really fun, you cycle 7km each way on a vehicle which is two bikes either side of a bench. We all took turns cycling and really enjoyed it. Greg recommended a restaurant called L’Estran which was 10 minutes walk away. We had a wonderful meal there on our last evening and loved it so much we booked again for lunch the next day! Excellent small site. We stayed in our Motorhome on a good size pitch. Shower and toilet facilities top notch, with very hot showers at all times. Nice small pool (kept at a warm 29 degrees). Short walk to the beach through the forest, with lots of other walks or cycling options available as needed.
