Camping la Forêt in St. Jean-de-Monts

This is the most Tranquil & Peaceful campsite/lodges you will ever visit run by a lovely family. Location you are spoilt for choice from the exit for a bike ride by velodyssey or a walk by a path in the shade of the forest that takes us directly to the beautiful beaches of Vendée. And what about the infrastructure: everything is tasteful, beautifully decorated lodges equipped with quality equipment, carefully maintained pitches and vegetation. The Pool area is lovely with an heated outdoor pool & jacuzzi very quite, beds always available so so peaceful. The food is very good and a great variety to takeaway. A special mention for the quality of its welcome and the kindness of its staff always listening to its guests.

We had a wonderful vacation with our one-year old daughter. La Forêt is a lovely small-scale campsite! Calm and relaxing atmosphere even in peak season. Clean, well-maintained, and a beautiful pool. Delicious on-site food, perfect for families with young kids (who don't need a playground/animation team) Only minor point: pillows could use an upgrade (we already donated two 😉).

An absolutely lovely spot. A few mins walk to the beach through the forest. Wonderful. Easy access to supermarkets, shops and restaurants. This coast is of a bygone era. Classy, unfussy resorts with a lovely atmosphere. The family at La Foret are always around to ensure the site is immaculate and facilities spotless. Some pitches are "tight" so ensure you know your outfit size when you book. There are pitches of varying sizes and sun and shade. Excellent small takeaway on site. We will be back!!

What a wonderful find! We have camped many times in England but never in France and have to say I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. This site is wonderful. We were drawn to it because it was small, close to the beach and had a pool for our boys, but wasn’t commercial. The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating, they speak English, French, German and Dutch. The site is spotlessly clean and the pool was a lovely 28 degrees! There is food offered such as bakery items and pizzas as well as ice cream - Euphoria was our favourite! There are two nearby towns, Notre Dame de Monts and St Jean de Monts which have everything you need including some great markets. The beach is so close and is beautiful. It’s vey unspoilt and we loved walking there in the evenings. There are some great days out in the area. Our boys loved the trip to Le Grand Défi which is a fantastic park for families with lots of activities such as tree climbing (Go Ape in England), aqua park, disk golf, laser game etc. The view from the Kulmino water tower was excellent and the interactive boards there give you a great explanation of what you are seeing. The Vélo Rail in Commequiers was really fun, you cycle 7km each way on a vehicle which is two bikes either side of a bench. We all took turns cycling and really enjoyed it. Greg recommended a restaurant called L’Estran which was 10 minutes walk away. We had a wonderful meal there on our last evening and loved it so much we booked again for lunch the next day! Thank you to Greg and Wiebke for an absolutely wonderful stay.

Excellent small site. We stayed in our Motorhome on a good size pitch. Shower and toilet facilities top notch, with very hot showers at all times. Nice small pool (kept at a warm 29 degrees). Short walk to the beach through the forest, with lots of other walks or cycling options available as needed.

We have camped at La Foret for 20 years. When we finished our holiday in the summer of 2022 we were told about the changes that were due to happen to the site and the plans looked really exciting. There is a phrase we use. 'If it isn't broken don't fix it.' and as far as I was aware the site didn't need any work doing as I thought it was perfect. However, when we returned in July 2023, we were amazed at what had been achieved at the site and how well the changes had been managed and incorporated, into the site as a whole. The new accommodation and development is very stylish and fits in very tastefully with everything that family Jolivet want to achieve for Camping La Foret. This is a beautiful site, that just keeps on getting better and better

I have spent more than 50 years of holidays wandering French highways and byways and have stayed on countless campsites. La Foret remains the best of them all. It is excellently run, quiet, efficient and good value. La Foret is about 10metres from a beautiful forest, and 400metres from a vast beach bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Highly recommended.

We have had so many memorable holidays in this camp site and would highly recommend it. It has direct access to the beach , cycle paths right beside it. It is spotlessly clean . We camped with our tent here for two weeks . The staff are always so helpful. It a real gem of a campsite and in a really beautiful location

Very quiet campsite with regular pitches and mobile homes. All the amenities can be found on their website, so I'll stick to our key take-aways:

- Quiet! Don't come here for (late night) entertainment. After 23:00h it's silence. Our mobile home was next to a small road, but there was hardly any traffic at night.

- We mostly cooked our own dinners. If you want to go out for dinner you'll most likely go to Notre-Dame-De-Monts or Saint-Jean-De-Monts. There is bread service and some food options at the camp site, but they recommend to reserve this ahead of time.

- The beach is great for kids. You first cross 400m of dune forest (on a good trail) before you reach the beach. This is also a nice area for horse riding, running and cycling.

My only recommendation would be to reword the long list of rules (don't do this, don't do that) into a list of desired behavior. Sounds a lot more friendly and I'm sure the large majority of guests will behave the same.
