I really liked it ! We booked a room the day before leaving, no problem. We even asked for a cheaper room with a "forest view" and still ended up with a room facing the ocean ! Pros : - Great location, a few hundred meters from the ocean. - Great prices, especially considering my first point. - The room was rather good. - Has a heated outdoors pool - Dinner was great. You need to book at the reception...

Lovely spotlessly clean room with large balcony. Food and service was superb . Excellent breakfast. . Our only disappointment was the small internal bar area which lacked atmosphere - and sometimes staff ! We will happily stay again on our next visit to the Vendee.

Not what it looks like on the photo!! We were only staying one night, so it did not matter, BUT I think an actual photo of the hotel itself rather than a photo of an apartment block in the town that does look over the beach would be more appropriate/honest etc.

Stayed here for one night on our touring holiday around france. Modern hotel and a little bit of a maze to find your way around, I think the hotel has obviously had various add on extensions over the years. There is a swimming pool as well although we did not have time to use it. Very nice large room with an extremely comfortable bed and thank heavens for the air conditioning as it was in the 90s...

The hotel is OK, clean and with confortable beds. The swiming pool is nice and clean, though the jacuzzi is a little too small. The problem is that it is far from the beach, about 20 minutes walk, or 2 KM. We had a problem with the booking, we didn't get the rooms we reserved at the beginning. We had to talk with a manager and to make a scene in order to get what we paid for, which I find very unpleasant...

Clean but truly basic accommodation and a long walk from the rest of the facilities in the tourist part of St Jean. Presumably the existence of a pool is what merits the official 3 star hotel rating but I doubt anyone would spend more than a few minutes in it. Also, there is no proper bike parking despite its 'Aqueil Velo' designation.

The staff are most courteous and helpful. The place is very well maintained. We were very happy during our stay

Nice hotel and spa, great service and v comfy bed! BUT no air con in our room meant a hot sticky night! 4* needs to have air con!

Shame really booked an more expensive hotel for our next to last day, left disappointed, no air con in our room, the room was nice but AC would have helped when the temperature was above 30°c. Restaurant was over priced for the food on offer 29€ for 3 piece of duck breast and asparagus. All information emails only sent in French. Left the next morning disappointed

Lovely standard of hotel. Food and bar really good. If you want to use the Spa bring flipflops and a bathing hat (yes, so required here), otherwise its expensive to buy.

We paid for breakfast on the first morning but did not think it was worth 16euros each so did not have it on the other days

The room was clean and spacious enough for one. Staff very relaxed and friendly.

Cannot fault location. Private parking is excellent for the area. Hotel service is brilliant - the staff can’t do enough for you. My French is at best intermediate but I can get by day to do as an Englishman however felt no pressure to try too much here as the staff speak great English. The rooms are clean and tidy, beds comfortable and overall had a great experience for a pit stop en route further...

Very nice hotel near the beach with private parking, warm welcome, spacious room with balcony, air conditioning system, modern decor and nice and not noisy despite the busy street. The only downside is that the bedding of some beds is a bit stiff. Very nice breakfast buffet with a large choice and good quality (homemade and local product) a treat to start the day.

We had a nice clean room and enjoyed the breakfasts, the owners were very friendly and helpful, we look forward to staying again

Nice enough budget hotel. The reception lady and the gentleman at breakfast were very nice and friendly, and very helpful. Enough English is spoken to allow us to understand the house rules. And along with my schoolgirl French we did just fine. It’s a very short walk to the restaurant area/Main Street and also the promenade and the massive beach/ pier. What a hidden treasure we have found, great price with excellent rooms. Great location and only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Shower so good and plenty of hot water. Bed very comfortable and the room was so clean . Stephanie and Phillip are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay special.

Great hotel for the price and location. Stayed here in July for a weekend as a family of three. The room was a great size (for France), tiny balcony for air and towel drying, good sized bathroom with a nice shower and a wardrobe for storing clothes. The room has aircon too!! Amazing The breakfast is exceptional for a French hotel of this standard (2*). There was eggs of the day, tea and coffee making...

Nice, family run hotel. Quirky decor. Clean. Nice courtyard. Plenty of public parking outside. Bikes parked safely in the courtyard. Nice touches at breakfast with homemade cakes etc.

Fabulous hotel, Fred is the most wonderful host. Rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Little gem of a hotel. Its location is ideal, the breakfast was really good and the outdoor terrace is a beautiful spot to sit and have coffee.

Great family hotel. We stopped as part of a cycling trip and they were very helpful.

Very clean and quiet hotel, impeccable welcome, adapted room and very comfortable bedding. We spoke with the managers of the establishment who are very friendly. We strongly recommend this establishment close to the city center and which has a car park.

I stayed due to a night at the casino and the hotel is easily accessible to the seaside by car. Very good quality / price ratio. The rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly. I didn't try the breakfast but nevertheless the presentation was appetizing. J

Very clean very quiet hotel. Bathroom good, except one thing (the toilet in the bathroom). The breakfast very good, we have the choice. The manager very very nice. I recommend this hotel.

A nice family owned hotel, well maintained and with friendly helpful staff. The rooms were clean and tidy, the maid service excellent and the bathrooms spotless.

This is the most Tranquil & Peaceful campsite/lodges you will ever visit run by a lovely family. Location you are spoilt for choice from the exit for a bike ride by velodyssey or a walk by a path in the shade of the forest that takes us directly to the beautiful beaches of Vendée. And what about the infrastructure: everything is tasteful, beautifully decorated lodges equipped with quality equipment...

We had a wonderful vacation with our one-year old daughter. La Forêt is a lovely small-scale campsite! Calm and relaxing atmosphere even in peak season. Clean, well-maintained, and a beautiful pool. Delicious on-site food, perfect for families with young kids (who don't need a playground/animation team) Only minor point: pillows could use an upgrade (we already donated two 😉).

An absolutely lovely spot. A few mins walk to the beach through the forest. Wonderful. Easy access to supermarkets, shops and restaurants. This coast is of a bygone era. Classy, unfussy resorts with a lovely atmosphere. The family at La Foret are always around to ensure the site is immaculate and facilities spotless. What a wonderful find! We have camped many times in England but never in France and have to say I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. This site is wonderful. We were drawn to it because it was small, close to the beach and had a pool for our boys, but wasn’t commercial. Excellent small site. We stayed in our Motorhome on a good size pitch. Shower and toilet facilities top notch, with very hot showers at all times. Nice small pool (kept at a warm 29 degrees). Short walk to the beach through the forest, with lots of other walks or cycling options available as needed.

We have camped at La Foret for 20 years. When we finished our holiday in the summer of 2022 we were told about the changes that were due to happen to the site and the plans looked really exciting.
