We ended up visiting in heavy snow, which only added to the magic. Picture it: snow-dusted trees, cosy wooden lodges, children who are temporarily too distracted by sledging to argue. It was like stepping into a Christmas film — except with more snack wrappers and someone constantly asking for hot chocolate.
The lodges were stunning — stylish, modern, and thoughtfully designed (unlike my living room, which currently features a trampoline and a mysterious sticky patch). The facilities were brilliant too — clean, well-organised, and clearly built by people who understand that children need to burn off 97% of their daily energy before bedtime.
And the people? So friendly. We attempted some heroic German phrases — confidently, incorrectly, and with wild hand gestures. Every single time we got stuck, they seamlessly switched to English to rescue us from ourselves. Zero judgement. Maximum kindness. Frankly, they were more patient with us than we are with our own children before coffee.
Will we go back to a UK Center Parcs? Honestly… I don’t think so. Not when we can have snowy forests, gorgeous lodges, lovely staff, and still have money left over for airport snacks (which, let’s face it, is the true marker of holiday success).
