Parosland Hotel in Aliki

We stayed at Parosland Hotel in Alyki as a family of four adults and were ultimately disappointed by the overly strict atmosphere that made it hard to relax. While the property itself is nice, especially the pool area, many of the rules felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. You have to check out towels from the front desk and face a steep fee if they’re not returned immediately. Pool use is tightly controlled—you can’t bring your own drinks, not even a bottle of Powerade, and even hotel drinks aren’t allowed in the pool, only at the small tables around the outside of it. When we asked if we could use a paper cup, we were told those were only for "take away" drinks.

The hotel advertises a happy hour from 3–5 pm, but it only applies to their €14 cocktails. Oddly, this overlaps with designated “quiet time” at the pool, which adds to the confusion. It seemed like there were more staff than guests during our stay, and with many of them stationed overlooking the pool from the restaurant, we often felt watched rather than welcomed.

On top of that, small gestures you'd expect from a hotel fell flat—like refusing my dad a cup of coffee that was already brewed and ready before the breakfast buffet officially opened at 8 am.

Overall, the restrictive environment left a bad taste in our mouths and discouraged us from dining at the hotel or spending much time on the property. We found ourselves heading into town instead, where the atmosphere was far more relaxed and enjoyable.
