Con: owner walks back on their word. Agrees to early check in then says we can't when it's too late to book another hotel with earlier check in.
Says we have to pay the tax in cash, then asks for us to pay it ahead with bank transfer. After we checked out we got e-mail, text and phone call (all within an hour) that we left without paying the tax. Guess what.. we already payed because that's what you asked!!
I've booked this hotel via booking.com 2 month before my arrival, I wasn't asked to provide credit card details of pay in advance as it's been said on their page that guests should pay in cash upon check in.
24 hours before our arrival I've got a message from this hotel that in order to keep my reservation I need make an international wire transfer otherwise the rooms we have booked would be cancelled. I've tried to explain we are already on our trip and that I have no way to make this, and suggested to pay or secure our arrival with credit card, as we are in 2022.
The next thing I've received was a cancellation message from the hotel of our booking for the day after.
Now imagine yourself on a hike in the Austrian Alps, with minimal internet access, discovering that you no longer have room to your family to the next day! We had to change our plans, cancel all our other plans we had, and founding ourselves in our hotel room in Austria looking for a new hotel for the next day.
This is just unbelievable and definitely the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my 48 years of traveling all over the world, both for business and for leisure.
Do yourself a favour and find another hotel that will appreciate the fact you are their guest. Hotels like this do not deserve to stay in business in today's world.
