Rjupa Guesthouse

The host is really nice and the rooms are very comfortable and offer you everything you need. The whole cabin gives you a warm feeling and you can see that they invested a lot in the isolation. Although it was cold outside, you didn't feel anything like that inside. The shared bathroom and showers are very modern and clean.

This has been a really nice experience! Agnes is amazing and very calm while explaining about the area or while serving her home made smoked mutton meat. Can't recommend enough.

This was the only place in Iceland we stayed more than one night and honestly I wish we had stayed the whole trip there.

Pros:
Agnes is wonderful. Explained how everything worked, where everything was, and was full of information about Iceland in general, in addition to just being really interesting and nice to talk to. It was a joy to stay with her.

Breakfast was wonderful. Filling and included both basics (toast, cereal, skyr, very good coffee) and things we hadn’t tried before. (sheep pate and homemade rhubarb jam were both great)

Rooms were spotlessly clean and also really simple and nice. We were nervous at first about the shared bathroom (we are a family of four traveling with a two-year-old) but we never had to wait and it was always insanely clean. Shower was wonderful. And I just really loved our room.

Beautiful and reasonably stocked kitchen if you want to make dinner. (Has things like salt, pepper, oils, a few spices, etc, which other places hadn’t had)

Washing machine on site in case you want/need to do a load of laundry. (I guess no one WANTS do do one on vacation but many of us need to)

Price was excellent given the other things in the area. There’s so much to do nearby. (and also she was so helpful with suggestions)

Also, the other guests were nice, which I’ll attribute to the vibe of the place in general. In the same way a great teacher can make or break a class at school, a wonderful host can do the same for a travel experience and Agnes made staying with her an all around wonderful experience.

Cons:
There were no cons! I just felt strange writing a list of pros and not even addressing the idea of cons.

The host, Agnes is a very nice, helpful lady! The guesthouse is well equiped, clean and comfortable. And the breakfast is plenty and superb quality!

Beautiful location, very convenient and close, and at the same time removed from the main road, quiet and picturesque. Very clean and comfortable rooms, nice touches of natural materials everywhere, the design is beautiful and very well thought through (e.g. heated floors), every little detail is perfect. The guesthouse has a washing machine, which was very much needed on our trip. The owner, Agnes, is lovely and very welcoming. Best stay of our trip!
