Chimikepp Hotel in Kitami

Excellent dining experience, very delicious french course dinner. Located deep in the mountain. Quiet environment and no TV in the room.

The fact that there's nothing around is wonderful.

I think it's a hotel for adults.

You can enjoy sophisticated French cuisine in a wonderful atmosphere enveloped in unparalleled tranquility. Unfortunately, the weather was bad when I visited, but on a clear day, you can enjoy the lake reflecting the blue sky during the day and the starry night sky. However, rain or snow, the atmosphere you experience at that moment makes this hotel an irreplaceable experience.

My wife made a reservation at the Chimikeppu Hotel because she really wanted to go there. We were unable to make any plans due to work, and finally managed to make a reservation in the frigid cold of December, when we rented a car at Memanbetsu Airport and drove for an hour and a half. We finally arrived, driving cautiously along a deserted road where there was no one around. It was a really cold day. To our surprise, the morning temperature was -22°C. Lake Chimikeppu in front of us was completely frozen over. We were the only guests staying at the hotel. The food was delicious, and since we were the only ones receiving service, we had no complaints. We were able to spend a special night in a different world where there was no one around.

It was worth the long journey from Ibaraki Prefecture. I had booked it for the summer of 2020, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and finally my wish came true. The car navigation system was out of whack? My smartphone wasn't working, and I was driving anxiously in the rain, meeting deer and squirrels on the gravel road in the dense forest, so I was especially happy when I arrived. The quiet environment in the primeval forest is special. The building looks old, but it is clean and polished, and the furnishings are calm, with cushions with floral embroidery casually placed, creating a gentle and comfortable space. Above all, the quality of the food is high. The flavors of the ingredients are clear, and the various ingredients are complemented. The beautiful presentation and the dishes that change depending on the dish are also wonderful. I was impressed that the main dish of Mangalica pork was roasted to lock in the flavor, rather than the low-temperature roast that is popular these days. The bread is very delicious. I was able to enjoy a variety of wines by the glass, and had an unparalleled time of bliss. The baked goods were delicious, so I asked them to send the Basque cheesecake and quiche frozen to my house. Since the delivery office is far away, I said I could send them when I was there, but they packed them carefully and sent them the same day. I would definitely like to visit again next year.

The road to this hotel is full of tight curbs and narrow mountain trail, but this is the beauty of it; not everyone can go there. But when you do try to go there, drive safely. There is no cell service in thr mountains.

In winter, there would be tents over the frozen lake, ice fishing. In summer, you could see rare birds in the forest surrounding the lake.
