Kotohira Onsen Kotosankaku

Very old and dated, tatami bedding was a “mattress”, welcome gifts (as depicted) were great, and food (dinner and breakfast) were buffet style which was not something we were expecting. However the food was not too bad. Overall doable for a one night stay but not beyond that. Piping/ drainage may have been an issue as there was a stench in most common toilets in the hotel.

Already 3rd times in this hotel it was good but the last stay it was bad, i just feel getting worst and worse, this times I pay almost 75000Yen for a night but they located me at a no view just in front of machine platform and the tea in room is very cheap one. I won’t book this hotel again, it does disappointed me a lot.

The buffets are good with many different kinds of foods and good

The hotel is quite old and the room space is too small comparable with other onsen hotels. I am quite disappointed about the room because it doesn't like a onsen hotel.

Very comfortable for family members gathering

Very nice hotel, with a supermarket right across the road. Easy access via main road. The staff are nice and friendly. Room was spacious and well appointed, newly renovated. It was about 10 mins walk to Kotohiragu so we left our car after check out and walk to Kotohiragu. Would recommend if you want to avoid the crowd.

I think the remarks about language are a bit much. They currently do their best to also have information in English. The hotel has abundant amenities, whist the only caveat would be its walking distance from the station.

Good location, nice breakfast. Opposite a large supermarket. Nearby restaurant and drug cosmetic stores

it is beyond my expectations, the hot spring facility is nice and clean, staff are helpful. I was visit the temple and stay this hotel, a Lawson shop just right next to it

Pros - Convenient location to supermarket and Lawson - Communal kitchen on the second floor - easy to access - Good onsen - Free coffee and an okay breakfast - Friendly Staff - Good laundry

The vibe is superior, the location is good. The service is very friendly and the food is amazing!

A Good and difficult to book, the food was good and service was good too.

Location is 10mins walk from busy street on a small slope, if not requesting pick up from train station, walking there seems a bit far away. The atmosphere was quite dark in general, some of the places seems dated but overall a classic onsen hotel and staffs were attentive. Not much amenities provided, just water in room and rest in fridge need to be charged as well as it's private onsen, which compared...

Beautiful garden, good service, but small onsen. Overall, it is nice to try.

Shuttle Service: When booking accommodations, there were only two ways to arrange a shuttle, and for some reason, my email only linked to a very old address I rarely use. My messages went unanswered. I also tried calling from other cities in Japan, but an automated Japanese voice service picked up. Thankfully, at JR Kotohira Station, there was an Information counter. A young, helpful service attendant...

Typical Japanese hot spring hotel with excellent view. A bit far from the main street but wont be a problem if you can have a 6-7 mins walk from there.

Free parking, room is small but clean, free to wear 和服， you can wear it to eat dinner and breakfast, yummy food and the staffs are friendly and speak English and mandarin.

The room was spacious and beautiful. The private bath window overlooked the mountain views of Kintohira Shrine and the entire city of Kotohira. It was truly relaxing. Plus, there's no need to worry about time or location. The bus to the airport runs right outside the JR Kotohira entrance, making it very convenient. It's also very convenient to get to the shrine. Great service in a large Japanese Tradional Onsen hotel. Minutes from the famous Kompira Shrine , room is spacious with great facilities, the outdoor Onsen is good but provide no views. Hotel has free car parking in an area some distance away, though shuttle are free.

WELCOME DRINK! The food tasted great and the service was excellent The hot spring is very good. It is a very good memory.

Hotel service is good, hot spring is ok, room size is suitable.

This is my second trip to Kotohira. I paid twice as much as I did last time at Kotosankaku, but I can't tell the difference. And I used two types of rooms, but they gave me the same room even though the price was different. I don't understand why. So I felt bad about my trip. I don't think I'll go again.

Smalles onsen we ever experience … all amenities is dated. Time to upgrade !!! For the amenities and facilities … it’s super over price. The dinner was just a pack food and cup noodle. Oh my !!

Staff is very nice and helpful

There were not many amenities. It would have been nice to have some cotton or a hair tie. The hair dryer was weak and took a long time to dry. I wish it had a bit more airflow. I stayed for two nights, and on the first night I went to the front desk to get a towel, saying, "I want one more towel in addition to the ones provided." When I returned to my room the next day, there was an extra towel waiting...

If the cost of accommodation in Qinping is similar, there should be a better choice! The hot springs and breakfast are not good, and they are far from the promotional photos! You can see the river outside the room window, and if you light up the yellow lanterns next to it, it’s a bonus!

It's too hot and the air conditioning is not very powerful. Try not to go on Sunday, the price is serious

The service was good. However, the bathroom had no ventilation and smelled moldy, so I think it would be better to use the large communal bath. There were restaurants nearby, so the location was good.

The location is in front of Koubaitei, so there's a noticeable difference in status, but I decided to stay there considering the price. The room is like a school field trip room. There are many rooms, and they're almost touching. It's not a hotel that ordinary people would usually use. The meal is home-style cooking with about five dishes. It's far too much food to finish. I visited in October 2011. I checked in a little early, but I was greeted warmly. The bath was open until 10pm, so I was pushed to take a bath earlier, which was a little funny. As others have said, the landlady has a certain charm, but I thought it was good.

The building was old, but it was clean and comfortable. The rice was so voluminous that even junior high school students left it. Kagawa rice was plump and delicious. It was close to Konpira-san pilgrimage, and it was a reasonable inn, so I would like to use it again.

There is a little distance from Konpira-san. The bath was a hot spring and it was a nice bath, but the men's bath was a little narrow. The parking lot is quite far away. The room was clean, but the walls were thin, and I was worried about the sound of opening and closing the door in the next room. The meal features chicken and udon. How about igniting the solid fuel just before sitting? The udon recommended...

Depending on how you feel about the landlady's character, you'll either like it or hate it (the Kagawa dialect should sound pretty rough). I wouldn't say the inn is super clean, but it's not dirty either. The facilities are old (beer vending machines are a bit nostalgic). The food is good, but it could be a little simpler (even if you force yourself to include sashimi, you don't need it because you...

Couldn't praise the owners enough! We recieved a very warm welcome to this family run hotel. The property itself is adequate (2.5/5) but it is the hosts that really make staying here such a comforting experience. Staying here is a must for those hoping to get a taste of real Japan. With the opportunity would definatly return.

Clean rooms, nice staff, good half board meals, excellent onsen, third time stayed here, will come back again.

The hotel has complete facilities and is old-fashioned, but full of human touch. The location is also convenient for tourists to check in after sightseeing in Dabuwe. The breakfast is buffet style and is very sincere.

A little bit outdated facilities and off main roads but very quiet and nice

I booked two rooms this time. The environment and facilities are also very good. The service staff who checked in after 9 pm were also very polite and had prepared the room keys early in the morning. It's a pity that there are only a few baths in the large bathhouse.

正汤， fluently English speaking staff with great food.

Modern, well-maintained place in an excellent location to explore the Miyoshi area. Dinner and breakfast we're really good. All in all excellent value for money.
