Libava in Liepaya

The worst stay in a hotel I have ever experienced. Incompetent staff and management. Avoid this place like the plague.

My girlfriend is allergic to gluten, and we asked the hotel prior to our arrival whether there are any gluten free options for breakfast and they said they have a special gluten free breakfast offer.

When we came for breakfast we confirmed multiple times with the staff that everything served for the gluten free breakfast is in fact without gluten.

Long story short - after breakfast we ended up calling the ambulance, and my girlfriend had to spend hours in hospital under heavy medication because the gluten free breakfast was full of gluten (I confirmed this after when I asked to see the packaging of some of the products included in breakfast - it clearly stated it contains wheat/gluten).

Fine. Incompetent and untrained staff. I get it. Mistakes happen. Even though this is borderline a crime to be honest and we are still exploring legal actions against the hotel.

What is most fascinating about this - the management. They have been unresponsive to my messages and have not issued any compensation for their mistake. The level of professionalism in this place is 0. As you can see from other reviews here - I wish I had checked them before making the booking, the management of the hotel does not care if something is wrong with the guests' stay, which is a clear red flag.

Liepaja is a great city, especially, it is amazing to visit in summer. And there are some nice hotels in the city, this one just is not one of them.

My husband reserved us a room via phone. By phone they informed us that it will be 100 euro per night + 12 euro for breakfast (optional). We were a bit surprised when we arrived that the receptionist asked to pay 110 euros instead of 100. Somehow breakfast was more expensive than it was a week ago when my husband called. The room was not so clean. Dust on ceiling elements and furniture. Also the room was cold and there was a non-functioning heating system that somehow managed to blow cold air instead of hot and was way too noisy. And important to point out - impossible to switch off. The best part was the morning of checking out of the hotel. When we paid for our stay, the receptionist told us everything there was to know. Our bad we didn't clarify the time of the checkout, we just assumed it was the same as the check-in - 14:00. So the time hits at 12:05 we get a knock on our door. It's the same reception lady, she asks us sarcastically are we planning to stay one more night or what? We apologize for our mistake and explain to her that we assumed check out time was 14:00. Quickly take our bags that we had already packed and left. And we left feeling not great. Felt like sheet.💩 We didn't expect such rude communication.. So to sum up everything, I don't recommend this filthy and rude place. Breakfast was ok'ish, except from coffee, that was terrible and non drinkable. And as cherry on top- we didn't get any receipt, although the receptionist promised to give one at the checkout. And to be fair we forgot to ask, because we just wanted to get away from this place as far as we can.

Food was edible, but the quality did not match the price.
Ordered fish form the gourmet section, but the only thing I loved on the plate was vegetables.
Fruit dish from deserts section was good.
There was only one waiter in the restaurant, so the place was understaffed.
Personally I do not plan to return.
