Cottage Sanatorium Belorusija in Jurmala

My wife and I were about to book a relaxing weekend getaway there and had some questions on what the exact packages are; booking.com didn't have a lot of answers, so I called the hotel's info line and pressed 3 for information on services offered.

The guy who picked up the phone didn't know anything and told me to just google it. If the guy in charge of their services line doesn't know anything about their services, I wonder what everything else is like.

Came in from outside,took the set dinner-paid for 6 euros. To say that is tasteless, it means to lie.... Just sucks!!! The potatoes are undercooked,no small piece of fish and a pathetic excuse for Korean carrot and some yogurt from the store. Tolerable was only like venigret salad mixed with beets and sour cream...not only that tasteless and so more expensive for a complex dinner.... and on top of that were hungry. A meal like this and the enemy does not want. In General, do not advise anyone eat there.

Stayed there for 3 days. Stylish rooms but overall awful experience. Centre has strong Soviet vibe.
Cons:
- firstly, reception staff does not provide necessary information (instead, it requires you to fill mass of documents and just gives the keys of the room)
- breakfast was ok but lunch & dinner portions in canteen are small and actually do not taste very appetizing (pretty much tasteless). Portions are also extremely rationed as you must book your meals in advance and you even cannot receive refills for lunch and evening tea (you only receive one teabag per person)
- strangely, but even pool there is considered to be a treatment service. Moreover, access to those treatment services (including pool) is limited, for example, one hour of pool swimming per day which is completely odd considering that sanatorium calls itself as ‘medical spa’. In fact, you can actually ONLY receive any services if your so-called doctor allocated to you by receptionist and located in the centre itself will allow you to do so.
- i also believe there is not many activities for kids as those who came there for receiving medical treatment constantly hand out with their phones.
Pros:
- good location (beach is nearby and town centre is 30min walk; 5-10min drive)
- rooms are newly renovated (actually, rooms are suprisingly modern and this was probably the main reason why I am reviewing centre 2 and not 1 star)

Personally, I would not go there for a second time as instead of relaxing you constantly feel some kind of strange pressure from staff as if you have done something wrong to them.

I had such high hopes when trying to book this resort. First of all I should have realized that this would be a disaster when the booking specialist Tatiana was barely responding, she offered me dates for a two week stay. I inquired about the total price and the accomosations for 3 adults. She would respond days later only to calculate two adults and a small child. The frustration started to build when I had to keep repeating that there is no small child.By the time she gave me prices which was still not clear because there was no clear number it was this price till this day and this price for this day. But there is also supposed to be a discount for 3rd person but no information on how much.Anyways we ended up asking one of our friends to drive from Riga and book on the spot. He also spend about an hour there because they wouldn’t give him a clear breakdown of price. They ended up giving him a luxury suite with two rooms. Which we agreed to sinceApparently all the regular rooms have sold out by then. So they calculated 3,000euro and he left a 300euro deposit. Three weeks later we had flown from New York and were checking in. I got suspicious when they got their calculators out and started counting something aggressively. They then told me that I have to pay 3300euro. My confusion was that there is a total on my contract and this is much greater then the total and there was also a deposit. Lucia the lady at the front desk proceeded to tell us that the reservationists didn’t calculate it correctly and it’s actually much more. And if we don’t pay it will be taken out of her salary and she won’t get paid. Honestly at that point it was overwhelming and we started getting upset. So the person who’s whole job is to calculate and reserve can’t count and we are at fault. Since we already flew across the world we decided to stay for 10 days instead of 14 and miraculously they found 3 standard rooms for half the price. After staying at the sanatoriy I can say that the best part was the light food, mineral water pool, and proximity to the beach. The rest the doctors, procedures, and the extremely hot rooms without AC or fans were nothing to write home about.For the prices they charge the customer service should be fantastic and this is more like Soviet Union regime.

The resort does not justify the three stars that he hang at the entrance. Thing that surprised me is some kind of system on the San. maps, i.e., your name and surname emphasize a certain color, which as I understand means the paysite you or a Freeloader. The third floor is old, reworked from 2000s (we are there and settled). Bed need to change yourself (that opyatzhe does not correspond to 3 stars) when I came in from a walk I yelled for the fact that we are "tracked" in the main lobby on the ground floor, entertainment is made more for the old generation (disco with an interval in 3 days!), show to call in films like farsazh 4, instead of the normal disco which is a lot more to everyone's taste. I would rate this hotel 2.5 stars if that was possible.
