Alila Kothaifaru Maldives in Raa Atoll

We celebrated our 8th anniversary at Alila and had the most incredible stay.

The property is absolutely stunning — private, peaceful, and perfect for a truly relaxing escape. But what made our trip so special was the team. Chef Damodar at the Italian restaurant and Chef Amrit at Sea Salt prepared beautiful à la carte specials for us that were honestly some of the best meals we’ve had. Sandeep at the bar was so warm and welcoming, making our evenings extra special.

A huge thank you to Niya as well, who took care of everything we needed throughout our stay with such care and attention.

We felt so looked after the entire time. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Alila to anyone looking for a luxurious, exclusive getaway.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon, and it was a phenomenal stay. All of the dining options were amazing. We tried each dining activity and none of them disappointed. One of our favorites was the Shack Lunch experience. It was so peaceful and serene. The service from the staff was also so personal and professional, and all of the activities were so diligently organized. We think about our time at Alila every day and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend staying at this resort.

We visited Alila Kothaifaru Maldives back in January of this year this review is a bit late, but I wanted to share our experience. We traveled as a family of 4, including 2 adults and 2 kids, and the island was a great fit for us.

The Beach Pool Villa
We stayed in a Beach Pool Villa and it was definitely the right choice. The design is very modern and minimalist. It felt really private because it was tucked into the greenery, but we still had our own path right onto the sand and Ocean. The private pool was the biggest hit with the kids. They basically lived in it when we weren't at the ocean. The indoor outdoor bathroom was another cool touch that made the whole villa feel tropical and spacious.

The Hyatt Guest of Honor Experience
A friend of ours was kind enough to gift us a Hyatt Guest of Honor award for this stay, which was amazing. It meant we got free breakfast every morning at Seasalt. Honestly, the breakfast was exceptional. It was probably the highlight of the food for us because the variety was huge and everything tasted so fresh. It really made our mornings easy and enjoyable.

Dining and Food
If I am being totally honest, the rest of the food on the island was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't always blow us away. However, we enjoyed the Italian restaurant. The pizza there was good and we ended up enjoying that more than anything else. If you go, definitely make sure to grab a pizza for lunch by the water.

Spa Alila
We also spent some time at the spa and really enjoyed it. Unlike a lot of Maldives resorts that put their spas over the water, this one is up in the trees. It felt like being in a luxury treehouse. The treatments were great and it was a nice way to get out of the sun for a few hours of relaxation.
Overall Impression
We had a wonderful time. It was a memorable trip for all of us.

Care of us like family, anticipating our every need. Truly an amazing family! From the moment we exited the seaplane we were greeted by Mr. Weber and our personal concierge Syn. The resort has a modern minimalist vibe that blends seamlessly with nature. The over water villas are spacious and private with an amazing view! All of the restaurants offer amazing food and service. Drinks are great as well. We highly recommend the all inclusive package for food and drinks. Lots of sea life in these pristine beaches, turtles, rays, shark, dolphins and the fruit bats flying in from nearby atolls at sunset were an amazing surprise! Sunset drinks with DJ Kavi playing chill music at the beach was so relaxing. We did that coral snorkeling and Dolphin tours, both exceptional! We stayed at Alila in November as the second part of our honeymoon. After 10 days in Thailand we were after pure relaxation in a luxury island hotel & Alila did not dissapoint.

The overwater villa, the beach, the reef, the views, the staff, the food were all absolutely incredible. Staff cannot do enough, they are so kind & attentive.

We booked onto a dolphin cruise & were incredibly lucky to see 2 whale sharks- a very rare sighting.

If you are looking for luxury, slow paced break Alila is the place for you. Maldives really is a dream.

The bed was indeed very comfortable. We both had a restful stay on this beautiful island. The service staff were friendly and helpful. The spa is not to be missed as the therapists' deep massages were well worth the time spent.

Had a wonderful stay at Alila Maldives. For our last dinner, we choose to eat at the Yakitori restaurant here. The food was great! Thank you especially to the Yakitori team, Alex, Chanaka, and Bhelly, for their wonderful service. It was such an unique experience. I love the special drink they made for memories in Maldives

It was absolutely amazing experience and all staff that we met were so perfect. It impressed us a lot! We even decided to extend our trip. Villas on the beach and on the water were both are amazing. You should definitely try both of them. Really appreciate the staff

Very good, good service, and good food

The hotel has very good food options and all are very well made. The staffs are very attentive and friendly, always coming to chat with us and giving advice on activities and history of Maldives. I’m The hotel offers good variety of water sports so that we won’t get bored. The sand is fine on the beach and the water quality is very suitable for snorkelling. We can easily find lots of fish by swimming a hundred meters from the shore. We tried SPAs, table tennis, snooker, gym facilities. We joined scuba diving, fishing and they were all very well organised.

The only shortfall is the pest problem. Lots of mosquitoes caused serious problems at the beginning. The staff should have warned guests seriously about this so that we can get prepared (closing doors and apply repellant) otherwise you will get really bad bites by various bugs. We stayed at beach villa and every night it’s like a battle of all kinds of bugs - gigantic cockroaches, snails, worms, caterpillars, flies, lizards, spiders, red ants and sand bugs. I even found one flying ant in bed one night. This really ******* me during the entire trip.
