Avrora Business Hotel in Kursk

I am currently staying at this hotel. I must say that wr are disapointed in a lot of things. We do not speak Russian. There are times when the front desk has not been willing to help me because they lady at the front desk does not speak English. I called the front desk many times and the lady was very rude to me over and over again. She would hang the phone up just because she does not speak English. This is very rude, especially when we needed help the most when we were stuck in the pouring rain and needed help to get back to the hotel today. Every time I called, she said no English and hang up the phone. That is the worst service I have ever received. We finally got back to the hotel an hour later after being stuck out in the rain. When we got back, our room keys did not work anymore. When we finally got into my room, the room was not cleaned yet. I used my phone to help me translate to her that we needed my room clean with new towels, and she wanted me to pay for it. She finally had someone else who spoke English help me over the phone. I explained I had been gone for a few hours and got stuck in the rain. Now I needed to shower and dry off, but I did not have clean towels or even toilet paper. The lady on the phone was much more helpful, and said I did not need to pay. When I asked her why the other lady wanted me to pay, she admitted she did not know why. They came to clean the room shortly after. We asked the cleaning lady for an extra roll of toilet paper because we keep running out. She said no. Yesterday, I needed my laundry done express. I filled out the laundry form and marked that I needed it express because we would be leaving in four hours. I called the front desk, and a lady came to pick up the laundry soon after. I have get the laundry and form. I made sure to remind her and pointed on the form that I needed it express two to three hours. She was holding her phone to her ear and ignored me as she walked away. Three and a half hours later I called to ask about my laundry. I was told it will be ready in the morning. I told them I needed it done now because I needed to leave. I told them to not even worry about it anymore because it was too late and I had to go wearing the wrong clothes. I asked them to not to express now because they were late now. We left the hotel and came back a few hours later. The laundry was now in my room folded and washed. I do not know if they are going to charge me express when I check out tomorrow, but I will not pay the express rate. Also, the clothes were not dry completely. My pants were still very wet like they had not been dried at all. The plugs in the room only work if the light switch is turned on. This means to charge my phone and computer through the night, we had to do it with the lights on. We had to take out the lightbulbs every night so we could charge electronics and sleep. There are no convenient plugs in the entire room. There should be a plug on each side of the bed, but there is only one plug on one side of the bed, one plug under and behind the desk that we had to move to access it, and one in the bathroom. The shelf in the bathroom that is beneath the mirror and above the sink is not level. Anytime I place any item on the shelf it falls or rolls off. The wifi is very slow and often does not work at all. They pillows for the bed are very flat. Every hotel we have every visited would give us multiple pillows. This is even true when we stayed in hotels in Moscow and St. Petersburg. But not at Avrora. They only give one very flat pillow per person and only one small roll of toilet paper per room.

In conclusion, the hotel is a nice building and there are some very helpful and kind people. But the service is the worst service at any hotel I have ever seen and the front desk are the most rude people at any hotel I have ever met.

If someone asked me if I would recommend Avrora to a family or friend, I would say absolutely no. I hope everyone who ever stays here is treated better than we were. We are very unhappy about how we are being treated.
