The first impression is fundamental: a smiling welcome, an apartment for 4 people and a Jack Russell: red wine as a welcome and, ladies and gentlemen, in the heart of the 'old' city, a few meters from the river and surrounded by first-rate venues, museums, cafes... Maribor is one of the jewels of Slovenia.

Located in the historical heart of Slovenia's second city, the Hotel Maribor offers up-do-date accommodations while still preserving a certain old-world charm. Our room was not in the hotel proper, but in the lovely garden apartment addition located a block away, closer to the lively riverfront Lent district, and easily ranked as the best accommodation we found in Slovenia. Ample work space, a restful bed, and a lovely exterior patio perfect for morning reflection and an afternoon drink. The staff is supremely accommodating, and the breakfast buffet (with optional omelettes) suffices, though even more satisfying options can be found a few paces away.

We checked in one location but had to drag our luggage to a second location down an alley of cobbled stones closer to the river. We were rewarded with modern charming rooms decked with kettle, coffee maker, complimentary water and even a small bottle of red wine. Slept with the windows wide open in April as we can’t control the temperature of our room. Room was new, clean. Our room look different to the Internet photos. I guess the hotel has rooms with different configurations. Location is fantastic. Hotel located in the city centre.

To say this place was fantastic would be an understatement. The apartment was so new, clean, and beautiful we wished we had stayed another night (we were only passing through from Budapest to Prague). Parking is easily accesible once you send your car registration to the hotel which was tricky for us at first but we managed to find it and get it done. This was a very last minute booking and by far is the nicest place we stayed in during our 12 day European trip. Breakfast was superb as well.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Maribor. Many of the rooms are in a building a short walk from the checkin building on the main square, which results in a more quiet stay. Rooms are modern and very clean. Excellent included breakfast in the main building.

The room description mentions “garden views”. We’ve got a view on a wall. Actually no room has a view on the gardens (cf picture). What a scam. Very rude receptionist who LIED to us and to her boss pretending she offered us another room when she actually told me everything was fully booked. We changed room for the last night but the experience was ruined. Also AC wasn’t working properly.

The best room I've ever stayed in. TZ program window view of the river. New furniture. Bathroom behind glass. Great hairdryer. Bidet. Large mattress (one). Free underground parking. Great breakfast with pancakes. Very friendly staff.

Great hotel but a noise issue.
Everything was great with the hotel but the outside is too noisy and anti noise feature of windows were not enough at all.
We could hear everything until 2-3am….

We had a great time at the hotel! Thr staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and very spacious. Right in the center with a lot of restaurants walkable.

Wow! This exceeded our expectation and was fabulous. It was so great, we actually thought about staying an extra night. Loved Maribor and the apartment we had. Breakfast was very nice and loved being able to order eggs in a variety of styles. The local dining options were terrific, especially the family style Bosnian restaurant.

The only thing I would change is the stairs in the apartment, they are a little wonky and require you to pay attention when going up and down.

Staff was great and accommodating. This is definitely on our say here again list!
