Reviews
However, several practical issues made the experience frustrating. The signage for parking and the lobby is essentially non-existent. I was charged to use the garage even though there was absolutely nowhere else to park, and getting there involves a very narrow, difficult road. For a first-time guest, the process is confusing and far from intuitive.
I also found the front desk staff surprisingly stiff and disengaged. No eye contact, minimal conversation, and no guidance on how anything worked — including the garage buttons I was supposed to magically know to push. Since the front parking area was closed, I had to carry my luggage down multiple steps to reach the entrance with no offer of help on either of the two days I stayed.
Each time I approached the desk with a reasonable question, I felt like an interruption — their eyes stayed glued to the computer rather than acknowledging a guest. For a hotel of this level and price, the warmth and assistance simply weren’t there.
A breathtaking property, yes — but the guest experience needs attention, especially in welcoming and assisting travelers who have never been here before.
They have good buffet and dinner options as well with really good food and service. The room is spacious and clean - quite modern actually. It’s good to relax for a weekend trip.
As an American, I think I can best compare the parador to a national park inn. The architecture is fantastic and gracious, the public spaces are generous, and the experience is about nesting yourself in the spaces there, engaging with other guests at meals, and wandering around to experience the space, which reflects some of the culture of the region.
We had a room that was vast, with an antechamber, and incredible views from each space in the room itself. The halls outside were wide and had sofas and chairs and library tables.
We had most of our meals at the parador, and they did not disappoint.
Each day, we would walk across the suspension bridge into Cuenca and up the steep hill into town for some tourism and exercise.
This type of hotel is for those who are looking for an immersive experience in a more or less old-world type of hotel. It suited me just fine.
Update 12-20-2025- Commenting to the hotel response that they have Chromecast to connect personal devises: it is very unfortunate that the reception did not explain anything to us when we arrived. I could we know? there was no information in the room about it. Bottom line, that was a very bad costumer service on your side.
All the staff were very helpful and attentive with smiley faces 😊
The room was great, the place is peaceful and quiet. Very enjoyable breakfast with amazing selection, and I recommend when booking to pick the option with breakfast included.
One evening after lots of walking we didn’t feel like going out for dinner and instead we stayed at the hotel and went to the bar that is beautiful and had cheese and wine and it was perfect.
One great advantage of the Parador is that it is located next to the Puente de San Pablo that crosses the river Huecar and at the other end is the old town and cathedral. Super convenient!
The bus lines 1 and 2 stop by the plaza Mayor in front of the cathedral so it is easy from the hotel to walk over and catch one of the buses.
