Do not let the exterior of the building fool you. This is a wonderful hotel! It's spotless, the rooms are relatively large in comparison to other hotels, the hostess is so helpful, and the location is only a mile from Gamla Stan. The breakfast consists of coffee, juice, coldcuts, bread, jams, fresh fruit. No a/c that we can find but it's September and opening the windows works just fine.

Do not let the exterior fool you. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are relatively spacious compared to other European hotel rooms, you have a private bath, there's no a/c but the windows open and there's a fan. The breakfast buffet was minimalist, but there is a communal kitchen to which you have access 24/7. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is located a block from a grocery store and less than a mile from Gamla Stan. The hostess is incredibly friendly. I cannot say enough good things about our stay there.

Great value for money
Clean and comfortable room, only disappointment was the breakfast.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a reasonably priced room.

Once again top service
The hotel is just outside city center with free parking. The service is great. They have standard breakfast. There is also a pantry with fridge.

Disgusting service. We booked a room for two adults and one child 5 years old. When we checked in, there were only two beds in the room, when they called the administration they said that the child should sleep in the same bed with us. I don't recommend it

Kalmar Hotell is a no-frill and basic hotel. During my check-in there was no one at the reception. Rather, I was sent instruction on how to open the main door and where to pick up the key. The hotel room is also very simple, clean and basic (tea and coffee is complementary). The breakfast however leaves a lot to be desired. The bread is old and there is not much of an option. The breakfast buffet is very basic and offers mainly cold items. It is a hotel you select if you just want a place to sleep. Location wise it is outside the main city hub, hence it lacks the vibe and atmosphere of other city hotels.
