Berns Hotel – Boutique Hotel in the heart of Stockholm in Stockholm

Room was clean but the heating rail in bathroom did not work. There is limited space to rest up other than a very small 'library' area. Great central location.

This was a three star hotel, certainly, but the location makes it rather popular. The rooms are small, and the door to get in the room is extremely heavy and makes it difficult to get into the room.

The bed was nice with great 300 thread count sheets. TV was huge. Also the shampoo and soap was nice. Good quality. After that, I cannot think of things that would be good to mention. Out the window was 10 meters and another window into another hotel room with a man who was totally naked and apparently had OCD. He was packing and moving things around the room, windows wide open, not a stitch of clothing.

The breakfast lady (the asian one) yelled at me because I was on the "wrong" side of the breakfast serving table. Apparently there is global knowledge of this which I had no idea.

Also, the silverware, serving utensils which are touched by everyone when getting breakfast tend to get sticky with syrup and grease, butter, etc. They are never changed out. You need gloves to get breakfast.

And there is a smell in the breakfast room, which I cannot describe. But it is like a smokey bar from last night which was a great party, and someone threw up and just left it. We ate outside every day so we could get fresh air. So did everyone else. This means there are not a lot of tables available, and they all rock because the ground is uneven. Hence the 3 star rating.

This hotel is strange because it is so old, and they put money back into some things but not the basics of cleaning and smells to keep it clean.

We booked a tour guide through the hotel. It was a nice guide, she knew everything and walked with us for 3 hours showing us everything. When we got the bill from the hotel, it was €100.00 per hour. Yes. So that was super expensive. The most I have paid for a tour guide in my life.

When I return to Stockholm, I will book a room someplace else. This was a once in a lifetime experience at Berns Hotel. I give it Average rating because of the location, but it should be a Poor rating because of the items in my review.

Room Tip: Be careful looking out the window! ;-)
