Plakan Resort in Kanchanaburi City

We booked a suite and the room was lovely. The housekeeping was perfect, the hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. The pool was beautiful, not the biggest and only four sunbeds but it's perfect for cooling down in the hot weather. The hotel is right next to the river bu there is a noisy road bridge adjacent, something to bear in mind. It cost 100baht for a grab taxi into the Town, it's too far to walk. The food at the hotel was nice, especially the restaurant in the evening. We found the breakfast to be just ok, the main problem being that the cooked warm food on the buffet, including fries eggs, was not kept warm. There was heating elements underneath the food but they hadn't been turned on, or weren't working...cold fried eggs aren't nice, bacon was also cold. The biggest frustration was that no member of staff could speak or understand English and just the simplest request was lost in translation. My wife and i ordered two warm fried eggs each for our breakfast and the waitress arrived with a small side plate with four eggs on it..very frustrating and no commonsense applied. We had a evening meal on two of our seven night stay, it was so difficult to communicate with the staff we gave up in the end and went into Town instead to other restaurants. On checking out we were questioned about the whereabouts of two refillable glass water bottles with no lid, which we had taken down to the pool. Glass bottles that would be of no use to us. Nobody thanked us for the seven nights we had paid to stay in the suite and nobody wished us a pleasant onward journey. Maybe it's a hotel more suited to local SE Asia customers rather than those from Europe/ USA etc.

summary summary Its next to the river. its a good stay. pool is not exactly clean as there are birds drinking and bathing in them but its nature cant blame the hotel. Breakfast was ala carte maybe due to low occupancy. rooms are clean. my view was the restaurant and pool. next to the road can get a little noisy if the sliding door is open. but the coffee machine was a good touch. Staff cant really speak English but they try to use google translate. it was good for a night stay.

I like quiet location and not too far from all the hustle and bustle. Well maintained facilities. Loved the room and amenities.
Although I’m not sure about the water bottle situation. I was asked where the water bottles were at checked out. They should post clear instructions about what they want guests to do about water bottles.

I really love how they decorated the resort with traditional Thai flowers. The food was so good. You can taste local spices also quality ingredients. I recommend this place.

Stayed here for one night. The hotel is very nice. Very welcoming lobby. The inner courtyard has a good sized pool and a restaurant lodge. The rooms as such are spacious, very nicely decorated. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast with a variety of dishes. The staff is super nice.

beautiful resort with attention to detail. Spacious rooms, some with a beautiful view of the river. It seems a bit colonial style, a bit mountain resort. Good,mainly Asian, breakfast. Very kind staff. Nice atmosphere close by the bridge on river Kway.
