The resort is a little bit out of Khon Kaen proper but on the plus side this does mean that you can avoid most of the traffic out of the city if you want to go exploring. You will probably want your own vehicle if you stay here and the owner will happily provide reputable companies to use.
Huge beds with firm but very comfortable mattresses (out best sleep in Thailand so far this trip) and the street food in the area surrounding the main highway (4 min away) is good and there is a big variety.
The owners helped us plan out routes through the silk villages around Chonnabot and also around Nam Phong national park, where they recommended an excellent village with many floating restaurants which serve great food.
A taxi from Khon Kaen train station to the resort will cost between 150 to 200 baht depending on traffic and a little bit less if you are leaving from the air conditioned bus station (station number 3) or the airport.
If you are looking for a base to explore Khon Kaen province from, while still being close enough to pop into the city for a few hours, I would highly recommend this resort.
