Kiatnakhon Hotel in Nakhon Si Thammarat City

This motel is situated off the main road through Nakhon Si Thammarat, about 1km from the Lotus supermarket (same side of the road).

The rooms are smallish compared to the average hotel room, sparsely furnished with only one small window on the rear wall. Adequate for a single night's stay.

The bed was very firm and the pillows even firmer, which is not my preference and led to a restless night.

Room service was good, as was the selection of food available to order, it was also reasonably priced.

One big drawback was the smell from the shower drains, which in common with most Thai plumbing did not incorporate a u-bend or a p-trap in wastewater connections, allowing sewage gases to filter back along the drains. To overcome this it was necessary to (keep the door closed and the extraction fan working.

The room wasn't very clean; our feet felt dusty as soon as we walked in, like the room hadn't been cleaned in days. The hotel advertised a family room for three people, but only provided two towels. When we inquired, they said it was hotel policy. We were a bit surprised by this, but they eventually provided a third towel. There was only one pack of tissues, which wasn't enough for a family room. There was a shower cap, shower gel, a refrigerator, and a small clothes rack. The stairs to the room were quite steep, making it difficult to navigate with heavy luggage as there's no elevator.

We appreciated the ample parking space. The location is opposite the Saengchan Brewery, which is noisy at night, but we were able to sleep. It's conveniently located near many restaurants across the street. Overall, the points mentioned need improvement; if these are addressed, the hotel would be excellent.
