Happy Mind Resort in Ban Mai

We've travelled Thailand for the past couple of months, north and south and have stayed in ten hotels on this trip. We are a middle aged western couple driving a moped for exploration locally and book hotels based on our requirements:

✅Swimming pool
✅Fridge
✅Kettle/tea coffee availability

Happy Mind ticked all our requirements, we went to view as we were staying locally and were impressed with the lovely garden, swimming pool with shade.

Upon arrival, we were met by the lovely Nan, she gave us a lovely coconut drink and explained that she offers home made food and showed us the menu - this was just the start of the very friendly and personalized service provided by Nan and Jan. We happily ate 3 evening meals with most of the other residents - Chicken Kao Soi, Massamans curry and a wonderful thai set shared with my hubby. Nan is a wonderful cook.

Our room was massive!!! Massive balcony, hot shower, daily water, shampoo ect. We were very comfortable. Nan arranged an in room massage for both of us and also arranged laundry - all at a very reasonable cost.

The pool was wonderful, it's in the middle of a large garden with seating areas and tables. It's like an oasis - a few birds flying over including Egrets and Lapwings. We counted ten tiny birds drinking from on if their water features - beautiful. Nan and Jan arranged a few evening meals out in the area for guests, which everyone seemed to enjoy.

The resort was a mixture of Western and Thai holiday makers. It was very relaxed, a mixture of guests - families, couples, travellers - all chatting and laughing, reminds me very much of boutique resorts of old.

We're very much into bird watching and walked down the road for a sunset walk to find over 100 Egrets flying to roost next to a lake. We walked with view of the mountains at sunset ❤️🧡.

I would not hesitate to visit again and highly recommend this wonderful resort. We left with very 'happy minds' 💕💕💕

Can't speak highly enough of this place. We only stopped over for a night but really wish we had more time here!

The hosts are super welcoming and made us immediately feel like home and were so helpful with everything - from what to eat to what to do here and helping with transport/transfers!

The resort is a quiet oasis and the rooms were super clean.

We arrived tired after a long days cycling on our trip and were greeted by Jan, and made to feel very welcome. A lovely room in a quiet location - a short cycle ride to the beach, shops and cafe, it was a perfect location for us. The rooms are clean and spacious and we liked facing the lovely garden. Breakfast was a treat. We were looked after extremely well by Jan and Nan. We enjoyed the great and tasty home cooked Thai food for dinner (lovingly prepared by Nan). We very much appreciated the offer of renting their own scooter to us, and showing us how to ride it!! Their tips on places to visit in the area were most welcome. The hosts are passionate about their area of lovely Sam Roi Yot. They run a resort that focuses on the guests and ensure that they are catered for and satisfied.
Our stay at Happy Mind is one of the best we have experienced in Thailand. We extended our stay for two extra nights and were sad to leave. We must try to visit again one day. Amanda and Andy.

It was great! The entire grounds, including the rooms, were very clean and tidy. There is a beautiful pool. Jan, who recently took over this resort, helped us with everything we needed. A few things are still in the early stages, such as breakfast and the restaurant. And some things are being refurbished/renovated. But that didn't really bother us and shows that it will only get better. He and his girlfriend are really super nice and helpful. We felt very comfortable from the start.
If we come back to Sam Roi Yot on vacation, we will definitely stay here again!

We absolutely loved our stay here. We initially booked for 3 days but extended because we liked it so much. There are new owners and as of Jan 2026 and made it so special. They organised motorbikes for us and offered to take us to Hua Hin, nothing was too much. Overall this place has the hospitality of a guesthouse, the facilities of a resort and rooms of a lovely hotel. My new favourite place in Thailand. We will be back!

Beautiful complex with around 15 rooms. Very well-kept garden. Small snacks or breakfast are available, but we didn't use them. There is a fridge in the room, but it only works when the key card is inserted. A kettle and cups for coffee, tea and soup would also be desirable.

Very nice place! Rooms are confortable and clean! Swimming pool is great, lots of inflatable toys and a basket ball hoop. Very good sea food restaurant near by, at the beach.

Great little resort. Rooms are big and clean, bed is very comfortable. Bathroom is a good size with a very nice shower. There's a huge porch in front of the room to sit out and chill on. The setting is like an exotic garden and is very quiet and peaceful but still only a few hundred meters from the beach. Note the walk back at night is dark.
Pool is lovely, clean, a very good size with excellent loungers to lie on and relax. The best restaurants in Sam Roi Yod are just at the end of this road to the beach.
