Lake Inn Hotel in Songkhla City

It was ok accomodation, for the price. Hotel needs updating.
Rooms could be cleaned better.

I've marked down Lake Inn due to mold in the bathroom- on all grouting, even the shower head. Just a tatty room, and general hotel surroundings that badly needs smartening up..at the moment "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" so the saying goes.
There two sets of steps to walk up to Reception, no lift available. If you have heavy luggage I guess that can be inconvenient. There are lifts in the lobby to get to the rooms though.
The bedroom curtains couldn't be drawn back in the first room. No bedside power outlet. No hairdryer. Plenty wardrobe space superfluous to need. Hot shower although temperature fluctuates. The shower curtain 's too short so the floor gets wet.
The toilet doesn't flush fully - makes a big watery show but doesn't fulfil it's function.
These are poor maintenance irritations .
Fluffy towels and fair housekeeping despite the aged room.
Not sure why supply a kettle when no coffee and tea are provided. At least the fridge works but not the AC which was so loud at times that it work me up several times in the night. I tried adjusting the settings , it would settle for a bit before the loud clatter started again. Needless to say,I asked for a change of room. The receptionist who checked me in didn't speak English and neither was she helpful when I asked her questions through Google translation. She kind of laughed when I asked her if it's safe for a solo female to wander out - it was 7pm, dark and I'm unfamiliar to the surroundings. She wasn't going to be drawn into that conversation. A simple aye or nay would've sufficed, hey ho! So I took my chances, in search of food.
Next morning's receptionist was more communicative and helpful and changed room for me.
It is safe to wander the well lit streets and loads of cafes and eateries are available.
My favourite places to frequent were: The Stand•Bake cafe and dinner at
"2459 Restaurant " both in old town- exemplary food and service at affordable prices.
Try the Cafe' de Musuem which is also a restaurant - a stunning restaurant which has an exquisite decor , like a museum - the owner and serving staff are welcoming and delightful. Booking necessary for large groups - more than 6-8 people I reckon.
Would I stay at Lake Inn again, not on your Nelly !

The location is strategic which is at the old town. Walkable to touristy spot like Mooon Donuts, Teman Cafe, Rally Cafe and many more. The cleanliness can be improved because I saw hair, dust on the floor and stain on the comforter. The design/interior of the hotel is quite old but that's not the issue. The issues are they DON'T PROVIDE CLOTHES IRON. NOT EVEN A SINGLE IRON IN THE BUILDING. Bring your own iron folks if you want to stay here. The receptionist are not friendly and attentive when communicate and the corridor from the lift to the room are so dark! Switch on some light please, this is not a horror scene. So dark for what?

Hotel is kind of old but already few renovated.
Location is great as direct in old town with having great view of songkhla lake. However during monsoon season, wind blow so hard and leak to your room with scary sound
