Very Disappointing Stay – Serious Service and Communication Issues
My experience at Basma Residence, Sharjah was extremely disappointing due to multiple service and communication issues.
I was staying at the property with my employees. We informed the afternoon front desk staff in advance that we would be cooking and dining together one evening. Despite this prior communication, we received repeated phone calls asking when the visitor would leave, which continued frequently and caused unnecessary stress.
When the night shift staff assumed duty, the situation worsened. The staff member who contacted us was unprofessional and unwilling to listen when I approached the front desk to clarify the situation. The interaction felt dismissive and lacked basic customer service standards. Other staff members present did not intervene or assist.
To resolve the issue, I paid to add an additional guest; however, this did not fully resolve the situation. Clear policies regarding visitors should have been communicated at check-in to avoid confusion. I was also repeatedly asked to make payments in cash, which was uncomfortable.
There were also several facility-related concerns:
Kitchen vessels were not provided
Towel delivery was delayed and incomplete
Wi-Fi was not available in the room
Overall, this stay did not meet reasonable hospitality expectations. I travel frequently internationally and found this experience to be well below standard. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves staff training, communication, and guest services.
