This Residence Inn is my family’s go-to hotel for staycations. My teen girls love the Plaza and my younger kids enjoy Crown Center (not too far away, thanks to the new KC Streetcar).

Service is always good here. Late night extra blanket requests or mid-day towels - the staff has you covered.

Breakfast is good, not great. I appreciate that they don’t just serve the same grey sausage patties each day. That said, they offer things early that seem to run out later during breakfast service. Get there early!

The rooms are small for suites and they are starting to get a little tired. In our current room, the carpet at the bathroom threshold is shredded (from a dog??). Be sure to get the indoor rooms. I feel like it’s a better experience.

Overall, it’s a good value - a great value when you’re bringing the kids!

whats the smelliest place you’ve even been?

for us it was the marriott residence in country club plaza. unbelievably gross.

the only thing worse than the tired, beat up 1980’s room was the smell of it. cigarettes and body odor. so gross.

a good place to punish prisoners, but not to enjoy a weekend attending the world
cup. im a marriott loyalist, but this was so sub par that i had to share. oh and the door was falling off the hinges.

My room is spacious, typical of those for Residence Inn. However, it is quite old. The floor (3rd floor) creaks in places, the bathroom is tiny, and the tub has non removable stains. It us not of the same standard as other Residence Inns I've stayed in California.

I booked a room here this past Saturday and the conditions were so unacceptable that I left shortly after checking in. Upon entering the hotel, there was a strong sewage smell and the room looked nothing like the photos online. The room was extremely small and had a large cracked window that was literally covered with tape.

For a hotel located on the Plaza, it is in serious need of major upgrades—especially when there are newer, nicer, and even cheaper hotels nearby. When I raised concerns, the front desk agent Shannon was dismissive and unhelpful. She made it clear that her GM (Jeff M) would not be refunding the $300 which is fine b/c they will continue to lose business.

I ultimately left and immediately booked two rooms at the Residence Inn downtown, which were significantly better. I chose this location specifically for the double room with kitchenette, but the condition of the property was unacceptable. I would not return.

Excellent location. Excellent staffing. We were there over Christmas holiday and they were positively incredible. I will say, if you are planning to go to the plaza for shopping there is a bit of a hill to climb coming home. There was tons of parking. Just ask about the various lots. The lot in the alley is better in my opinion. We had a two bedroom suite and brought an air mattress to put on top of the pull out which was perfect. Full kitchen worked great. Perfect stay! Breakfast was great, gym was great, and we took the stairs quite a bit and they were super accessible. If you are a family looking for a spacious place with a convenient location to everything in the KC area, I highly recommend this place.

This hotel has a lot of potential but needs work to meet it. The rooms were small, which was to be expected given the age of the building, but they were clean overall. We had to ask for fresh towels, since daily housekeeping was apparently not standard. The website says, “Join us for breakfast every morning until 10 AM” in the lobby bar, making it sound as though breakfast was complimentary—something I thought was standard for all Courtyards and which is always a huge plus with kids. That was not the case. There was a small selection of pricey breakfast items that could be ordered through the hotel restaurant. Our fault for not looking more closely at the details, but this is truly the first Courtyard I have been to that didn’t have free continental breakfast. The pool was the biggest disappointment of all. The water was murky and clearly had not been treated or filtered in a long time. There were fake eyelashes, hair ties, and other assorted things floating in the water, and our suits absolutely reeked after getting in. We also had to call and ask for pool towels since there were none there. The employee that brought some came with only five. There were four of us, so that left only one for the family that came right as we were leaving. The valet system they used was incredibly inefficient, as the valets often didn’t see/get the notification that we had requested our car until after we were already down there and waiting. Have we had worse hotel stays? Definitely. Does this live up to the expectations for this hotel brand, though? Not at all. Some simple changes and improvements would make a world of difference!

We were really let down by our stay at the Courtyard Kansas City Country Club Plaza. As a family of five, we were hoping for a comfortable and clean room. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The floor was sticky and unpleasant to walk on. One bed was completely worn out and offered no support, while the other had bugs. The pull-out sofa felt damp, and the towel hanger broke when we tried to use it. On a positive note, the breakfast was good, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the condition of the room. We won’t be returning to this hotel.

The guy i was traveling with was parked in the parking garage with hate arms and security cams. This did not detour someone from breaking Into his vehicle last night. Everything else was fine gold service nice rooms and good amenities. Within walking distance to country club Plaza and Westport. On a weird note my windows in My room actually are straight into the breakfast area.

While the location in the Plaza is great that is about the only thing this hotel has going for it. The rooms have not been updated in I would say at least 20 years. Elevators are broken, pool area is a mess, lobby is dark and dingy. Tried to call for extra pillows - phone was a relic of the late 90s and did not work; didn’t matter as there were none available. Hotel appeared to be over sold with families / softball teams staying 6-8 people per room. Overall I would not recommend staying here.
