I booked a three-day tour with two overnight stays with Ruslan. On the way from Bukhara, we stopped in the Sarmishsay Valley to see the Bronze Age petroglyphs. Even though signs of modern tourism are visible, the valley is still very impressive and definitely worth a visit.
In Nurata, I received a warm welcome at the modern guesthouse run by Ruslan’s family, and I enjoyed delicious, home-cooked meals during my stay. The Alexander Fortress and the Chashma spring are located nearby and can easily be visited from the guesthouse.
The next day we drove through the vast steppe to the mountain villages of Sob and Sentob. My friendly guide Mustafa showed great flexibility, as the planned two-day mountain trek literally “fell into the water” because of the rain. Instead, he guided me on two shorter walks around the beautifully located villages, which was a very nice alternative.
Afterwards, we returned to Ruslan’s guesthouse in Nurata, and the following day I traveled back to Bukhara. I can highly recommend Ruslan’s tours, the guesthouse run by his very kind family, and the flexible approach to the tour planning.

Ruslan organised everything for us while we were in Nurata and organised our transport from Bukhara and then on to Samarkand. We had an amazing night staying in a beautiful yurt in the desert where a local musician played for us. Local guides took us up through the mountains where our hosts were all extremely welcoming and fed us well. Our highlight was the incredible Saymysh-say George with its amazing petroglyphs. I highly recommend Ruslan for any trips around Nurata!

Our daytrip with Ruslan from Bukhara to Sarmishsoy Gorge was great! Ruslan was extremely knowledgeable about the petroglyphs, friendly in answering our questions, and made sure we were safe walking around the gorge. He also provided us with delicious home cooked food for lunch and drove very carefully. We especially appreciated his great taste in music on the journey! A very memorable day that we would recommend ☺️

We did the 3-Day Tour (Samarkand – Nurata – Kyzylkum Desert – Aydarkul Lake – Bukhara) as a group of 2 and joined other groups along the way. Here are a few highlights of our tour. The first night in the yurt was a great! Although it was very cold, Ruslan and the camp staff made sure we were warm enough during the night by providing wood and fire for our inside heater and plenty of blankets. The camp food at both dinner and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The kasakh folk music by the campfire was a lovely moment. The next day we enjoyed a short hike/walk through the mountains before reaching our lunch spot at a guesthouse where a beautifully set table and delicious dishes awaited us, including a flavorful plov. The afternoon walk through the valley was very enjoyable.
The visit of Sarmishsoy Gorge and its petroglyphs on our last day on the way to Bukhara was also very interesting.
Overall, I recommend Ruslan and his company based on our experience. He was friendly, professional and available at all times. We had a wonderful time on his tour during our vacation in Uzbekistan.

Ruslan organised a wonderful 2 night trip for us in the Nuratua Mountains. We stayed with two host families in different villages which were equally both unique and fantastic. All food was homecooked and absolutely excellent. The hikes to the villages were between beginner/intermediate, you just have to be careful.
The villages were so quiet and peaceful and both Asror and Kuldosh’s families were so warm and welcoming! Would highly recommend for everyone to try a rural trip in Uzbekistan

We didn’t have any issues with the guesthouse itself. The family was very friendly, Ruslan’s mother is a great chef and we loved our meals. The room was decent as was the bathroom. There is constant construction in the center which made it very dusty sometimes, but still we didn’t really mind. That being said, the tour we got was not worth it. We did the “Nuratau Mountain Hiking” listed on the website, which is also the most expensive tour. As other reviews mentioned, it isn’t a private car and we shared with another traveler, but even that we didn’t mind. But the “native-speaking guide” was not accurate as the guide is just the driver, and he could barely communicate with us. At one point on the hike to Sentob, the guide pointed in a direction and said something in Uzbek and then left us. There were still several kilometers left and we ended up getting lost in the village where there are barely any people or signs to figure out where you’re going. The home stay itself was extremely underwhelming, with the worst meals we had during our 2 week trip in Uzbekistan and a family who seemed to not care that we were there. It was very disappointing after a long day of traveling and hiking through the mountains in the sun. Again, the guesthouse and Ruslan’s family were great, but I can’t recommend these tours to anyone.
