Banff International Hostel in Banff

Food was great, service was the worst we have ever had. The girl was so lazy she didn't ask of we wanted refills, she never gave us silver wear till 20 minutes after she delivered our food. She either needs to get out of the waitressing field of work or pick up the slack. She acted totally clueless when I gave her criticism I really hope she takes the criticism and gets better so others don't experience what we did.

We went here last night (my husband, myself and our 2 kids ages 3 and 5). The lady put us in a corner table which was way too small for us to sit at comfortably. My husband asked if we could be moved to a larger table which also happened to be in the middle of the room. The waitress says sure, no problem. This waitress was nice and also of ethnic culture. As soon as we sit down in the booth she leaves and a white waitress goes to her and says, "those people can't sit in the middle of the room". The original waitress looked confused but says okay. The white waitress comes over and tells us we need to move back to our corner table. My husband happens to be east Indian, my children are half. That whole conversation felt very racist to me. We move back to the corner table and try to maneuver our belongings (winter coats, scarves, etc) and our two children around this too small of a table. My husband asks what the problem was with us sitting at the other more comfortable table. He says he's starting to feel disrespected. The lady apologizes and moves us back to the middle table once again. Now a man comes over to us who is obviously the manager. He says, "you need to move, this table isn't appropriate for your family". Now my husband is very mad and asks what he means. The man will not explain, only once again tells us to move back to the corner table or he will "call the police and make us leave the restaurant". Why? What have we done besides be a mixed couple with young children trying to eat like everyone else? I felt very frightened after the manager said he was going to call the police and have us forcefully removed. I felt like he was going to physically harm my husband or myself. My children began to cry. Everyone in the restaurant witnessed this and no one said anything, including the staff. The manager followed us out and watched us leave. The main waitress we had who wasn't white also looked very scared and uncomfortable. I guess this is why there is only one chili's left in all of Alberta besides at the airports. Shame on this company and shame on Banff for allowing racists to serve their tourists.
