Hotel Canto del Mar in La Serena

this is probably one of the worst hotels we’ve stayed. we were given a room that was directly above the kitchen. the stench in our room (237) was unbearable, like old rancid fried fish oil. i went to complain and the receptionist was not all surprised and said it could happen depending on what was being cooked! she called the hotel owner and had an interminable conversation about what to do with us. i had to wait in the lobby for 45 minutes while she was trying to convince them that we wouldn’t stay in that room. in the end we would have to split our stay between different rooms. no apology or help with luggage whatsoever!
the next room we stayed in was supposed to be an upgrade because it had a sea view but it was minuscule and they manage to put a huge chair in there, so there was definitely no space to put a suitcase down.
the rooms and bathrooms are poky and outdated. the noise from inside and outside of the hotel is incessant. the noise insulation is non existent.
the photos are nothing like the real picture and are clearly designed to trick people. the breakfast was appalling. eggs felt like chewed rubber.
the following morning i told (another) receptionist that we would leave and not spend the other two nights in the hotel. there was no reaction, no questions, no apology and of course no refund.
what a disgrace of a hotel. avoid at all costs!

Staff was good but we encountered major issues having no water for showers and or bathroom after returning from a desert trips, no prior notice not once but two days in a row . Room facing the beach very very noice at night time with traffic and teen kids skating and bikes until well past midnight.

We could not get in room...had to download an app climbed to 3rd floor with a standard key then dpor would not open had to comee back to front drsk download some app to enter room...crazy didnt work spider in bed stayed twice not coming back

Very expensive for the quality. Without air conditioning, the room was boiling hot, we couldn't sleep because of the heat and we couldn't open the window because we could smell the food coming from the kitchen. On the other side of the wall there were some machines that were apparently out of order and a man was drilling them all day, regardless of the guests' rest hours.

Very expensive for the quality offered, there is no parking, the water in the bathroom is barely enough to bathe, the room has a broken glass, noise at night and in the morning. The breakfast is acceptable, but the room does not have air conditioning, the TV set is old. Very simple and very expensive room. They charged us more than 125,000 for one night.

The weather was very windy and cloudy, the Canto del Mar hotel is now a disaster, the rooms with dirty beds, the bathroom with mold in the dining room at breakfast time all the doors were open, one day there was no hot water for breakfast. My friend and I caught a cold, it lasted 15 days, I ended up in the clinic and my friend is still in bed and has had to go to the doctor twice, our stay was 3 nights at the beginning of December
