We have visited Ruka for around the past 10years and always stayed in the same apartments. As we find them comfy, warm and not far from the slopes. This year though we were put in a studio apartment away from the slopes. the bed was in the living area. Beds are right in front of the log burner. Bit disappointed as we were there for 2 weeks. The apartment didn't seem very warm when we arrived. 2 of the radiators weren't working, along with the underfloor heating. With it being late we would have missed the rep. So we decided to leave it and see if the heating came on that night. It didn't. It got to around 60° by the morning. Luckily we had an extra duvet. The sink in the bathroom leaked. We informed the rep. Maintenance came down. Fiddled with the radiators. They came on. But only for half an hour. He said the underfloor heating was working as the red light was showing on the control panel. It wasn't. That night it dropped cold again. We also found the shower head was broke. The Maintenance reported the heating was ok. The temperature had gone up. Yes, as we had the cooker on,toaster. The dryer etc. I ended up widdling the underfloor heating button. Turning it on and off and around and around. The underfloor heating kicked in. Then came the log burner. These have a knack to lighting them. With being used to these we knew how to light them. There is a button on the wall that you press, it stays on to draw smoke up the flue. Ours turned off after 10mins. So the room filled with smoke. If we lit the fire, which you do when you have a sauna as the heating goes off. We couldn't have one together. We needed to keep pressing the fire button in. Then, one night after we had just swapped to go in the sauna there was an almighty bang. Numerous swear words. I stepped out of the sauna and the full length shower door had fell off in my husband's hands. Luckily it wasn't me or a child in there. The problems went on. Maintence came out. But didnt fix the problems. After a week of complaining and asking to come home on the next flight we gave up. To move us to another apartment they wanted €1300 . The price of another week. Ive never felt so stuck in a place that doesn't feel safe. Not all the apartments are like this. But this one needs some serious attention before a bigger issue arises. If you are also looking for a ski inn place thr studio apartments aren't for you. We absolutely love Ruka and have made some lovely friends with the locals. But sadly next year we are looking at a different resort.

There are good and bad points to this place. we really liked the location. It’s a nice spot not far from the frozen lake and ski lifts and a short walk into the main village. Really peaceful and pretty surroundings. What we liked in our apartment- We really enjoyed having an open fire and the sauna was nice. We had access to sledges which was a great bonus and there was also an endless supply of wood for the fire. In our apartment we also had two toilets which was good. The wifi was good and the apartment was always very warm What we didn’t like -: Our apartment could do with quite a bit of tlc! It felt quite dated and old and we had broken units locks not working screws hanging out of handles and the units in the bathroom were rundown with chunks missing out of the cupboard doors etc and the apartment felt quite small. There wasn’t much space for clothes. This is our second stay in Ruka and we really love the resort and would visit again but choose a different accommodation. It didn’t come close to where we stayed on our previous visit sadly.

Very cosy and nice small studio apartment with beatiful views down towards the lake (we had 2nd floor) Own fireplace with unlimited wood, sauna and balcony plus well equipped kitchenette. Clean and welcoming place, close walking to the Village but still really peaceful.

Very comfortable studio apartment - family of 4 stayed - one room but we all fitted. Bathroom large and good shower, hairdryer provided. Basic kitchen but ample for our needs. Free washing machine under building for laundry. Stayed in block Q. Definitely not ski in! Probably 300m walk to first possible point to put skis on and ski down to T bar lift. Gets a bit annoying by the end!

Very pleased with Aurinkorinne Apartments. Booked a studio through Crystal and found I was able to access the apartment from 12:35pm rather than wait until normal check in at 6pm. The apartment was very clean, spacious, well designed and well equipped. The key code entry was useful, saves remembering a key! There's a large drying cabinet as you walk in which is great for all your ski gear, plus plenty of hanging space. The kitchen has everything you could need, including a dishwasher which is beneath the oven. Cleaning liquids (including dishwasher gel), tea towels, cloths, even kitchen towel are all provided. There's also a QR code on the cabinets which you scan to access all the appliance instructions. Useful for the dishwasher as there's a lever attached to the tap which you have to turn to use it. The bathroom is large, the sauna is lovely and there's plenty of hot water. Shower gel and soap are also provided along with a hair dryer and plenty of toilet roll (a nice surprise compared to French apartments...) The main area of the room has the beds, which were very comfortable, a sofa, table and fireplace. The room was always warm without being too hot and there's extra bedding in the wardrobe. Even firewood, matches and firelighters are provided, though don't forget to open the damper above the fireplace before you light the fire, though you might need to stand on a chair. There are some English channels on the TV but not many. WiFi was very hit and miss on the first day but then stabilised and worked fine. Didn't hear much noise from adjoining apartments, though I was woken one morning by snow clearance at 5:30am which wasn't great. The apartments are a little way out of Ruka village which I liked. From Q block it took about 8 minutes at a brisk pace uphill to reach the gondola. Some of the apartments are closer to the slopes than others - Q block is probably the furthest and it was about 5 minute walk to the slopes, though the route is flat and easy. Only tricky bit is the snow covered steps to the apartment if you're on the first floor, but just take it easy and it's fine. Don't be tempted to ski along the road, they spread gravel on it to help with vehicle traction. If you're self-catering, I recommended going to the Sale supermarket just out of the village (by the roundabout off the main road) rather than the store in the village. It's much larger and cheaper, and only a few minutes further to walk. Overall I'd happily stay here again and if you're used to French ski apartments, these are a significant step up.

Absolutely brilliant apartments, clean and well equipped. As a family of 3 we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was plenty big enough. Drying cabinet was excellent and so was the sauna. We were in block c which was just at the bottom of the fist hill so an excellent location. To get to the village it was a walk up a small hill and then you could do the steps (70) up to the village, or take a longer gentle walk round. We will be back loved it x Hairdryer, towels included.

Actually quite nice place to live while skiing, surprisingly at least as good as MastonAtio (not sure about spelling). Clean, quiet, pretty close to ski lift so skiing in/skiing out both possible.
