I could not recommend this beautiful home more for your stay! The host is very kind and welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. The home is so charming and well kept, and I loved that their sweet cat was around to say hello too! Breakfast was delicious with homemade honey and jam (very impressive). Everything about our time here was more than we hoped for and we will absolutely be back! Merci Jerome!!

This is a family owned Bed and Breakfast property in a narrow street within the historic centre of Auxerre. The rooms are comfortable and full of character. Jerome is a delightful and attentive host. We enjoyed a good continental breakfast. We had a lovely stroll around the historic centre of the City in which there were plenty of attractive restaurants to choose from. One drawback concerns car parking. The property has no private parking for residents and we were very fortunate to find a space in the Place de Saint Eusebe, just a short walk from the property. We both agreed that Auxere merited a longer stay than our overnight stop and if we return we will have no hesitation in staying at the Relais again.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the warmest, friendliest smile by a beautiful French host. Language barrier? Pfft, not even Google Translate could ruin the fun. Sure, we didn’t speak the same language, but honestly, I think it added a little sprinkle of magic to the whole experience. Our host was determined to communicate, trying everything short of interpretive dance, and always with a smile.

Sophie, our host, was genuinely concerned when we arrived later than planned—sorry about that, Sophie, but Geneva’s beauty and sandy beaches just wouldn’t let us leave on time!

After a bit of friendly chit-chat, aided by our trusty Android phones, Sophie jumped in to help with our luggage, bravely taking one of our three bags up the stairs. Thankfully, we’d organized our five bags during our previous stay, knowing we’d only be here for one night. And thank goodness we did, because the family room was on the third floor! I hurried after Sophie, not wanting to keep her waiting, only to hear the sound of my wife wrestling with the heaviest suitcase. Cue the instant guilt—classic me, leaving the heaviest bag for her!

I asked if she was okay, and she responded with a heavy sigh. But let me tell you, my wife is a trooper. She’s the type to tackle anything head-on, and she handled that suitcase like a champ. Kudos to her!

As for the place itself, the pictures don’t do it justice—do they ever? The room was cozy, with two double beds and a single bed, plus an ensuite bathroom that was top-notch.

We had a comfortable stay, though we regretted not taking up the offer of breakfast. I had pre-planned our breakfasts throughout various cities, but the best spot in town ended up being a bit of a letdown—and they’d run out of croissants! Sacré bleu!.

The dining room at our stay was as charming as the rest of the place, nestled in Auxerre—a city I’d always thought was much bigger. I guess my football fanaticism led me astray; after all, when my team Ajax played Auxerre in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals in 1993, I figured any team that made it that far had to come from a major city. How wrong I was!

To future guests of Auxerre: follow the (review) stars and book this place. Enjoy every moment, make sure to book the breakfast, and you'll leave with a smile on your face.

And as for Sophie, thank you for the short, sweet, and memorable experience!

This hotel was truly beautiful. We were warmly welcomed by Jerome, the owner and shown to our room that was incredibly beautiful, with a large very comfortable bed in the corner of an old fashioned beamed room with vaulted ceiling and Felix window to keep it cool and fresh. Spacious bathroom and all things supplied. Breakfast was fresh and the jams homemade and delicious. Highly recommend staying if you are ever in the area. Close to town for some lovely restaurants and Jerome will recommend and help you book restaurants. Thank you for a wonderful stay, slept very well.

We really enjoyed staying at Le Relais. It's in a very convenient location, right in the lovely old town area. The building is beautiful and appealingly furnished, and our room was quite comfortable. The homemade breakfast was excellent, and Jerome is an extraordinarily gracious and thoughtful host, Highly recommended.

+ fantastic B&B very close to the center of Auxerre (well, practically you are in the center of Auxerre) + great rooms, the ones at the top floor have great volumes and exposed wooden structure + delicious breakfast + the owner was very nice, always available and always smiling

We can't praise this little relais too highly. It is an absolute gem; thoughtfully furnished and immaculately kept. Our room was right at the top of the ancient house and we slept in a large and comfortable bed with the great timbers of the original roof above our heads. Our host Jerome presided over a breakfast of home-made juices, his own delicious honey and jam, fresh bread and copious quantities of good coffee. The perfect place to stay when visiting lovely Auxerre.

Stayed one night on a recent road trip through France. Never stayed in this area before and this B&B was well located in Auxerre Several paid parking options just a few minutes walk away and only 5 minutes walk from restaurants and bars Great welcome from Jerome, the house is over 400 years old and beautifully decorated with lots of great features Breakfast included Jerome’s own apple juice and jams Would stay again if in the area, recommended

Our host was so inviting and easy to communicate with. Our whole family felt like we were just staying with friends. Our room was very clean and well designed. The original woodwork and style was well maintained. The breakfast was great. Strong, large coffee. Fresh squeezed apple juice. Homemade jams. We had absolutely everything we needed, including a welcoming host family. This is a great pick if you are visiting Auxerre.

Nice large rooms, clean bathroom, nice breakfast (homemade jam, homemade honey), good coffee. Silent. Good location. Paid parking nearby. They have an adorable cat. Jerome is also super friendly.
