I stayed there for a week (last week of October 2023)
and the room was amazing. Great view, superb food and service. The staff and management was exceptional. I loved the old culture atmosphere and their attention to detail. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again. I was able to be with my fiancée and her daughter, where we ate our meals. Outside, by the old Catholic cathedral, was a farmer's market too.

DON'T FALL FOR ALL GOOD REVIEWS , I bet you those are not real. I went there this month and it was awefully dissappointing. The carpet is way too dirty in the whole hotel inside room and hall way , pillow is so flat and thin. The toiletries are 25% amount left. 1 reused bottle shampo shower , no kettle, tea or coffee provided in the room. The owners are so cheap , and they don't think to make it better for the guests to enjoy, only profit in their minds , so selfish to ruin somebody's vacation.

This is a fantastic hotel in the heart of Ellwangen. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always with a smile on their face.
The decor is traditional and beautifully kept, it really feels like stepping into the past. The breakfast was plentiful, and the rooms incredibly spacious.
This hotel really elevated our time in Ellwangen, and I would very happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Excellent service, excellent beer and excellent meals at a reasonable price.
One feels comfortable and cosy there. 'The spirit is in Ellwangen'.
Visit Schoenenberg, the stations of the cross and the old historical church and cloister while you are there in town.

I had lunch in the restaurant.
The food was top-grade in terms of quality of ingredients, preparation, flavor, and presentation. The beer from the family-owned, historic brewery was great. Both were a good value.
What sets the Brauereigasthof Hotel Roter Ochsen truly apart in my experience is the competence and character of the waitstaff. The lady who served me was absolutely competent, courteous, kind, and seemed to enjoy her job to assure guests have a good experience. She was attentive but not showing too much presence.
This restaurant is an institution. It goes back centuries, and the owners and staff clearly don't rest on their laurels. I highly recommend eating there, if you like high-quality traditional cuisine in a wholesome environment.

Traditional hotel and restaurant popular spot near centre of town. Been a few times over the years and quality consistent. The traditional Schwabish dishes are my personal favourites especially the Linsen Spetzl with the local beer.Fresh and good size portions. Booking recommended especially over weekends.
