We visited Hotel Restaurant Zur Sonne on a Saturday evening without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. The staff was very friendly and managed to find us a table, even though the restaurant was quite busy. The dining room is spacious, and it was clear that many locals and groups choose this place to meet and eat—which is always a promising sign. The restaurant doesn’t aim for fine dining or unnecessary frills; instead, it serves straightforward, hearty German home-style cooking. My wife enjoyed the traditional Schäufele, while I went for the Cordon Bleu. Neither dish was a culinary revelation, but both were tasty, satisfying, and exactly what we were looking for. The portions were generous, and the prices very fair, making the overall value excellent. If you’re in Dinkelsbühl and want a genuine, no-nonsense Franconian meal in a convivial atmosphere, this is a great choice. We left happy and would gladly return.

Perfect location in Dinkelsbuhl
We appreciated being able to select Room 115 to get all of the features and comforts we were looking for. Our room was clean, spacious, cozy, QUIET and comfortable. The shower was very nice too.
The location is perfect for touring the town and the restaurant is an added bonus! Have some great food and beer and walk up the stairs to your room afterwards.

Easy hike with great view.

This comment is on their restaurant. It was our first time having lunch at the restaurant since November of 2020 before the COVID lockdown. Even though it was a little rainy and cool day, we really enjoyed our lunch at their outdoor café. Service is great, and food is very good.

A great find in a great place. The hotel is centrally located In Dinkelsbühl and only about 100m from the St. George. The hotel itself looks like it was built in the 1500’s on the outside (well taken care of), but when you go inside it is very modern. The hotel staff is kind and helpful. The hotel has two restaurants. El Paso (Mexican fare) and the Gasthof restaurant (local fare). The Mexican restaurant actually drew more locals, but I thought the local fare better.
The hotel rooms are clean, modern, and sizable. The beds were great. We would stay here again.

I brought a small group here for a day trip - the atmosphere was quite nice and our service friendly- the food was just ok. Not what I've come to expect from Bavaria. I had Zweibelrostbraten and the sauce tasted like Knorr's, it was a bit disappointing.
One of my travelers had the pumpkin pasta again it was ok but lacked spices, just a little bland.
