Good and comfortable rooms, large, quiet. No view (facing directly the other wing), not far from the historical centre, good parking, dog-friendly. Good breakfast, good wifi.

Great location, great breakfast, and a great pool. However, we paid for an extra bed in the room, and when I went to put my daughter to bed, I noticed a strong urine odor. It took a very long time to get a replacement bed brought to the room. When I mentioned the issue at checkout, staff were unwilling to make it right, even though we paid for a bed we couldn’t use at first. Very disappointing.

Staff was outstanding. I’d like to mention the little lady at breakfast. She was so pleasant and nice to talk to. Another lady who stood out was the blonde lady at dinner who was very attentive and friendly! And the young man who helped us in the mornings since he spoke English the best. Thank you!

First time in black forest Great location, short walk to train station and a lot of trails for hiking. Hotel staff was amazing ( special thank you to Michael, Ivanna,and Vannaren Yani). Room is spacious and clean,and the breakfast is ready good too.Totally recommended.

Nice hotel, 10 minutes walk from the pretty village of Gengenbach.

Nicely located, good breakfast area, and bar with outside seating. Some staff went out of their way to help, which was much appreciated as I don’t speak much German. On the downside the evening meal was expensive with a limited menu

Gengenbach is a lovely small town only eight minutes on the train from Offenburg. Reichsstadt Hotel and Restaurant is in the middle of town and only a short walk from the station. We booked a three night half board package and really enjoyed our stay. We were allocated a large apartment above their Cocotte restaurant which was very comfortable. Great location in the centre of Gengenbach. Nice to find a pool and spa facilities in town hotel. The apartment was small but well-equipped. One drawback was the lack of air conditioning which meant opening the windows onto a noisy bar. We did not receive our welcome drinks. The breakfast was very tasty and the garden setting with views of the town was idyllic.

We had originally planned to visit Gengenbach for a day trip from Strasbourg but after a very disappointing stay in Strasbourg, we checked out of our planned 4 night stay there after 1 night and made a reservation for 2 rooms at the Die Reichsstadt for that same night. We made a last minute decision to spend a couple of days in the Black Forrest area. The village is beautiful though not extremely lively. The hotel is centrally located, staff is very friendly, breakfast was excellent with a great variety and we enjoyed the whirlpool and small pool. Spent five nights here in Sept during a road trip from Scotland to Germany (Mosel valley, Black Forest, Rhine valley). Great stay, right in the centre of Gengenbach (which is beautiful) with a very comfortable, well appointed room with amazing views over the town and to the hills beyond. Room is clean and spacious. Tooth brush, shower cap, slippers are not provided. Not sure if it will be provided if you ask. I brought my own. Cristy from front office is very helpful and friendly. And thanks to Michael, owner, who provided complimentary pick up from Gengenbach train station as well as sent us to station the day we left.

Clean, comfortable, safe & quiet little hotel with FREE parking and an ELEVATOR in a charming little village. Hotel staff also speaks English, friendly & helpful. Easy walk to restaurants nearby. Breakfast included with many selections, Highly recommend.

This was a conveniently located medium-budget hotel, a short distance from the beautiful centre of Gengenbach. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I enjoyed my stay there.
