Jugendherberge Otto-Moericke-Turm Hostel

Very ordinary hostel!! Internet rarely, if ever, working!!!!! food pretty awful and like many others commenting here, those running it could be friendlier. I am referring to those in charge of the hostel, not cleaners or kitchen staff. They do their best but I suspect have to deal with a lot! Its also far from town, port for boat trips etc which is really not convenient at all. I was not expecting 5 stars but just a really disappointing experience, felt like many corners are cut to save costs, (for example not even a full or spare roll of loo paper, beds made for those under 1.6 metres not even the vending machines working) has potential to be good but its not and I would not recommend it!!

Great price, yes, but not the place to if you expect to be treated nicely. The lady in the counter was just rude because I wanted to keep my bike inside. I had already asked when I phoned them but there must have been some miscommunication. Bikes can only be kept outdoors. The lady was not interested in helping me in any way, which was quite frustrating when having cycled all day and arriving not until after 7pm - I was notably tired. Then when I told her I would have to go somewhere else she tried to fine me a 50% penalty, which I ended up talking myself out of. I ended up staying at another place further away - really a lose-lose situation. Culture clash, yes, but it doesn't make me want to stay there.

I checked out today and couldn't wait till i arrive home to share with guys the most disaster and horrible experience I've had in the so-called Hostel!! The room was disaster!! The bathroom is dirty, the room smells and was so cold the heating was stoped aroumd 10-11 night. I got sick after my accommodation in this hostel. Rooms where full of insects! I don't know what was that actually However, when we asked the guy at the reception he offered us a pesticide. So just imagine how was the night afterwards!! So in few words IT WAS MY WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! ????
