Disappointing stay – not up to 5-star standards
Of the many 5-star hotels I’ve stayed at, this was unfortunately one of the weakest. Our room smelled damp, almost like a basement, and the window was left ajar on arrival. We had also parked outside but were told late in the evening to move the car. Dinner in the restaurant was acceptable but lacked real flavor. In the end, we decided to leave that evening and drive to Hamburg instead. The hotel was of course within its rights to charge us for the stay, but given the circumstances, a reduced rate would have felt more appropriate.

Very poor service. On booking.com it says pets are allowed in the hotel. After I made the reservation I was informed that cats are not allowed, only dogs. I requested my cancelation fee to be lifted but the request was refused.

Breakfast was nothing special. Scrambled eggs dry, omelette made to order was a bit better. Some cold cuts etc. Rooms specious and clean but bathroom not properly cleaned. Long hairs in the sink and toilet not really clean. First night we were told there was probably no availability (but no one actually checked!) in the restaurant until much later and then we proceeded to look at it through the window for the next 2,5 hours and all was empty. Location is superb. Easy walking distance to the Christmas market.

Well placed for exploring Celle
Staff was friendly and accommodating. It was very close to the town Center - so as a hotel from which to explore Celle, it was great. We were in the original building (16th century), as opposed to the modern extension. The ceilings were very low, and there was a bit of a smell from the bathroom.
