Where to stay in Mastichari

Fantastic resort - lovely space to walk around with a number of pools and restaurants to choose from. Evening entertainment was available each night. We ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant which had lots of choice. Relaxing atmosphere.

We had a good week eventhough it was the end of the season. We liked the sports, pools, the food and the service. We had two twin beds which was very sad and the room in general was small. Would recommend though.

Drains issues (so no toilet facilities and water intermittently) and tired looking rooms however the food and overall setting are great.

The staff in the restaurants and spa are wonderful. Giorgis at the spa was excellent — I received three treatments from him, and they were among the best I’ve ever had. The management of the spa is also excellent. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the front desk, which is a complete disaster. I was considering giving 4 or even 5 stars as overall I am happy with the resort but one important minus is the room cleaning, which is very poor and shallow. There were still hairs from the previous guests on the bath, bathroom floor and various spots, very visible. Mirrors were not wiped for a long time, remote control was very sticky and dusty. Very nice hotel, people working there were very nice and friendly. There were not many attractions nearby, but there was not really any need for them, because every night there was some event happening at the hotel at one bar. If you didn't want to participate you could go to the second bar near the beach which was really quite and nice to talk.

Enjoyed our stay We stayed for one night, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. However, we were disappointed with the sea view from our room. Wonderful staff who are so quick and efficient thanks to their mix of students studying Travel or Hotel Tourism type studies. Really was one of our best 5 star holidays and no regrets.

The staff were very lovely and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. The only negative was the Spar changing room and showers as drains blocked and shower water comes into changing area floor.

Stayed here for a few days in July 2025. Big complex, great location right on the beach, numerous swimming pools, decent rooms. Compared to other entertainment teams we thought Gaia royals team lacked energy, charisma and personality. They were friendly enough however. Unsure what the negative reviews are about. It was super relaxing staying at this hotel. Staff were lovely, food was really nice. A lot of time has passed since the hotel's much-vaunted renovation, and it was visible here and there in the room, ours still allowed us a pleasant and relaxing stay. Gaia Royal is probably one of the best resorts we've stayed. Rooms cleaned daily so very clean. Mini zoo for kids and also mini golf, several kids play, tennis, football, basketball court, 3 very good pools with bars. Garden areas beautiful and balconies on apartment blocks very spacious and sheltered from sun. Gaia itself is a bit out of the way but there's very good buses that run from hotel reception...

All right...so about the Gaia Royal... To far away from the sea, the swimming pool are not very clean, so I think they don't filter the water. We loved our stay at the resort, but let me first mention what we didn't like. The cappuccino costs 4.5 euros. The kids' program is in German. Why? I don't get it. I'm not German. German is not the world's number one language. Nobody cares about Germany, except this hotel, as there are many Germans here. To say we were disappointed is an under statement! 5 star it is not! There were a lot of weeds by the pool, toilets out of order and leaking everywhere. I do not expect a 5 star hotel to have manky shower curtains! The room was adequate but only cleaned every other day and not to a good standard. Overall good hotel. Room numbers a bit old, but service is good and very good people who works there. Beach close to the hotel and mini market and car rental right in front of hotel is nice benefit either. But for active young couple a bit boring, this hotel more for the family with kids or elder people.

There were upgrades available. They showed up all our options and the additional prices. We chose one of the upgrades. This room was large and comfortable. They remembered our names.

Perfect for families with children. The staff is outstanding and very responsive to answer any questions you might have. They are quick in responding to your emails. It's a little bit of a walk to the beach. Every complex has their own little pool in addition to the super size pool in the middle of the complex.

Third visit back to the Gaia Palace. Lovely stay yet again. Staff were absolutely amazing and very friendly throughout our visit. We stayed in a superior double room which was excellent. The Gaia Palace is a lovely hotel one of three sister hotels in the same area, although we only went into the grounds of the other two, the Palace appeared to be the best, the grounds at the Palace are very nice and well kept. We stayed here 2 nights as we were heading to Kalymnos, we arrived very late at night. However, we had clear information on how to find the apartment and water was put in the fridge for us. The apartments were clean and in a good position for the harbour. Only a 2 minute walk round to the beach area. Loved the sunset in the evening.

Only stayed for one night while waiting for our early morning ferry. The man on the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is right on the harbour, 10 minutes from the ferry to Kalymnos, just what we wanted.

Quiet rooms, nice outlook, clean surroundings and met late at night by the owner.
