Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort - A Beach Property, Goa in Calangute

Very disappointing stay at Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort. The room tariffs are extremely high for what is offered. The rooms are poorly maintained and look unpleasant. The AC had a bad smell, and the lights and switches were not functioning properly. There were a lot of mosquitoes near the window area and many insects inside the room, which made the stay very uncomfortable. The floor near the main entrance of the room was always wet due to water leaking from the AC drainage of the upstairs rooms. The staff behavior was very rude and unprofessional throughout our stay. At the swimming pool area, the staff/security constantly watched guests in an uncomfortable manner, making it feel like there was no privacy at all—especially concerning for families and women. The only positive aspect was the food, which was hygienic and tasty. Overall, our friends’ trip turned out to be a very bad experience. I returned yesterday and have been dealing with a severe throat infection since then. Strongly do not recommend booking this resort under any circumstances.

Very dissapointing property no TV working very dirty oven and baking trays window catch broken shaving light and plug did not work freezer so frosted up couldn't open draw stained duvet no shelf in fridge door. Owner was uncooperative and skyes said they couldn't help . Surly as the agent they are responsible for the property they rent out and that it should be upto standard. Have booked with skyes many times but will not be booking with them again

It was horrible, the staff they were about to hit us and were shouting on us as we asked to change the room because their were worms in the bed and on the walls

I have been a regular guest at this property for nearly 10 years, which is why this review is coming from a place of genuine disappointment. The rooms and location are still good — that is not the issue. The real problem is the drastic decline in breakfast standards. For three consecutive days, the breakfast spread was almost identical. Extremely limited options, no meaningful variety, and no effort to rotate items. It felt repetitive and carelessly planned. If dosa was being served, there was no masala dosa — which is the most basic and expected option in any standard breakfast buffet. Instead, we were given things like beetroot dosa. Honestly, who serves beetroot dosa as a primary breakfast offering? Guests typically expect plain dosa and masala dosa — simple, classic, and universally preferred options. When parathas were served, it was only aloo paratha. No alternative fillings, no rotation, nothing. For a three-day stay, seeing the same limited spread every morning was frustrating. Experimentation is fine, but not at the cost of basic expectations. A hotel of this standing should first get the fundamentals right before trying to be creative. As a loyal customer of 10 years, this felt like a clear drop in standards. Breakfast is a core part of the hospitality experience, and currently, it does not match the pricing or reputation of the property. I hope management seriously re-evaluates the breakfast planning and restores the quality and variety that long-time guests remember.

Spouse and I have visited many Sandals properties over the years with NEVER a single complaint…..until our 30 Nov to 7 Dec 2025 stay at the Sandals Royal Bahamian. This visit was an unmitigated disaster and a huge disappointment. First the building we were in lacked hot water for two days. The elevator adjacent to our 5th floor room was out of service for the entire week. There was not even a couch in our room unlike other rooms . We often lacked towels and facecloths in spite of our calls to Room Service. Our room was located directly above a building which was being re-roofed with the usual noise and pungent odor of tar. The telephone in our room failed on the fifth day. The food at Butch’s and Gordon’s Restaurants was inferior especially the swordfish at Gordon’s which was served essentially uncooked and sickened my spouse. Then there was the mold on the contents of a breakfast fruit plate shown in the photo attached. This property suffers from a lack of toilet facilities which were few and far between in addition to limited signs. The facilities that were there were poorly maintained, run down, and severely corroded. And as if that was not enough, large rodents could be seen running through the property. Curiously……. Following our return home, Sandals emailed us a survey. However, their survey abruptly & repeatedly terminated when I clicked in the first part in which I mentioned we would NOT recommend Sandals in the future. Imagine that!
