La Locanda del Passerotto offers a single room and a double room with attached bathroom in the attic of an ancient house located in the fortified medieval village of the castle of Julius II in Ostia Antica. The rooms are clean, comfortable, large enough, warm and welcoming. The bathroom has a shower and is on the bedroom floor. The owners are kind and helpful people, always at the customer's disposal. Tv and wifi connection are included as well as towels and towels for the shower. The inn offers bed and breakfast service, which is offered from 6:30 am in the adjoining restaurant located on the ground floor of the same building. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner and is a real treat. In the external square, a park with covered tables is part of the restaurant. The castle village is a picturesque place full of history, from the brickwork with Roman era stamps, to the Latin tombstones embedded in the facades of the houses, from the fragments of marble mixed with travertine, to the columns lying on the cobblestones. An oasis out of time that houses the imposing castle built by Pope Julius II towards the beginning of the eighth decade of the fifteenth century, and the basilica dedicated to Sant'Aurea, which according to tradition already existed in the eighth century and which still today it bears the incontrovertible signs of its antiquity in the precious gothic decorations of its large windows. As if all this were not enough to make the locality a special place rich in history, a few tens of meters from the hamlet you can access the wonderful archaeological park of Ostia Antica, the city that constituted the first important port of ancient Rome. 'in the late Republican period and at least up to the 4th-5th century AD. Inside you can visit the archaeological museum with a rich collection of artifacts found in situ, the collection, exposed outside, of sarcophagi and amphorae, the necropolis along the decumanus maximus near what were the old gates imperial, Roman gate and Laurentine gate, real blocks with private homes, public utility buildings, warehouses, shops, nymphaeums, temples, domus, the ancient castrum, the capitolium, the forum, the basilica, a huge number of baths , the beautiful theater, the forecourt of the guilds, the gymnasium, the Christian basilica, the mitrei, the stopovers for the storage of goods, the neighborhood full of garden houses, the famous and beautiful mosaics in black and white tiles, the equally beautiful paintings decorations of the richest houses ... a real journey through time and a glimpse into the life of 2000 years ago. I can only recommend this experience to anyone who loves art and history. But I have to thank Agnese, Benedetta, Amina and Mauro for enriching my stay in Ostia Antica with their genuine and safe hospitality. Thank you thank you thank you, I hope to come back to see you soon!

We only tested the restaurant. Horribly unpleasant waitress, incorrect limit (much less with the Italians at the next table oddly). She literally threw our plates at us, the dishes arrived cold, tossed hastily on a serving plate (the beautiful crockery being for the table next door). I put a star because the dishes were good (we took lasagna, classic and with artichokes), and the older lady rather welcoming. But if we bother you that much, we won't come back.

The house built in the 1400s and it is pretty cool, but it was not worth over 170 € for a B&B for two nights.
